Flora took her time leaving, bending down to give Connor a quick peck on the cheek. “Just a little farewell kiss, Connor.”
Connor couldn’t help but smile a bit. Even with all those eyes watching him, he wasn’t the least bit embarrassed. He’d grown used to moments like these.
The senior execs around them, though, felt like their world had just collapsed.
Their boss!
Had been!
Kissed!
What?!
“Let’s go,” Flora said with a soft chuckle, leading the way out.
Jonathan almost choked on his surprise, struggling to keep up.
...
Down in the Enforcement Division’s dungeon, Brandon was a wreck.
This place was hell on earth. It hadn’t been long, but he already felt like he was on the brink of death from the torture.
“Let me out! Get me out of here!” Brandon shouted, slamming against the sides of his electrified cage, getting shocked with every hit.
But he was beyond caring about the pain. He was desperate to escape!
“Why are you holding me here? You should be after Flora! Catch her!” he screamed, his voice raw with despair, while the guards stood by, stone-faced, ignoring him completely.
“Commander.”
A respectful call came from outside. The next moment, the heavy door swung open, and the guards snapped to attention as Jonathan walked in, nodding respectfully. “Commander.”
Brandon, who had been spiraling into madness, snapped back to his senses, his head shooting up!
And there she was—standing right next to Jonathan.
She looked familiar...
Brandon’s eyes widened in shock.
It was Flora!
Ma’am?!
Hearing that, Brandon felt a chill run through him, doubting his own ears.
Then, the guards dropped to their knees, respectfully greeting, “Ma’am.”
They were Jonathan’s trusted men and had heard the boss was back with a woman—this must be her.
In that moment, Brandon realized he wasn’t hearing things.
They—
Were calling Flora—
Ma’am!
The only woman Jonathan would ever call ma’am willingly was her!
Brandon felt a cold sweat break out, his blood rushing to his head. He finally got it—all of it!
