"No way, seriously, there's no ghost!" Beck was almost in tears, his voice rising to a shriek, "I swear I saw it—ah! The ghost is back!"
He collapsed, trembling, into Moss's arms.
At that moment.
Everyone could see the "ghost" Beck was talking about.
Silence.
A dead, eerie silence.
Then, a few seconds later.
"Ahhh, there's a ghost!"
The whole villa erupted with blood-curdling screams!
A bunch of grown men, scared out of their wits, nearly wetting themselves!
A shadow zipped through the night, darting up, then swooping down with a whoosh!
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh—
It shot up to the fourth floor, then leaped down, like some kind of wild bungee jump!
"Everyone, back to your rooms!"
Connor's face was as serious as a heart attack.
Everyone was freaking out, instinctively following Connor's orders, and bolted inside.
Connor leapt out the window, and as the shadow sprang down from the fourth floor, he caught her in his arms.
She was fast; he was faster!
Holding her tight, Connor pressed a point on her body, and Flora finally passed out. Sensing the storm of energy raging inside Flora, his expression grew even more serious. He swiftly carried her back to his room.
Gently laying Flora on the bed, Connor took her wrist, channeling his own energy into her until the wild energy inside her settled down, only then did he release her.
That special medicine? It really didn't do much. Flora's energy went haywire because it had been bottled up for over a decade, never getting a chance to break free.
The medicine just stirred it up, causing the chaos.
"If you want to go back to Martial World, I'll go with you," Connor murmured softly, looking at her. "Lucky for us, your Connor is strong enough now."
Not like fifteen years ago, when he was just a kid locked away in some secret room.
Connor lay down beside Flora, closed his eyes, and slipped into a dream.
A nightmare.
He didn’t even know her name or her family.
But he knew, Martial World was a terrible place, making both him and her miserable.
Both in pain.
He spent five years, building an empire in Martial World, untouchable, unchallenged.
Yet, he couldn't find Flora.
He thought about her words, leaving Martial World, heading to Lone Island, Amanda wanting to claim him, he dismissed it. After living on Lone Island for over six months, he moved on to Austenberg.
This time.
He finally found her.
But she’d lost her memory.
No big deal.
He stayed by her side, in Austenberg.
Now, Flora wanted to go back to Martial World, and he’d go with her.
And maybe, check out the empire he built for her along the way.
