How on earth did Flora, who had just turned twenty, end up dragging someone off to get a marriage license, even swiping the family register? That seems like something only her cold-hearted and stoic older brother, Ethan, would pull off.
"A jerk? You guys really talk about Connor like that? Aren't you worried he'll overhear?" Flora hadn't said a word while they were messing around, but she finally chimed in slowly.
The two of them went quiet instantly, chuckling nervously, "Hey, he's not around, is he?"
"Oh—" Flora drew out the word, tapping the screen to flip the camera toward Connor, who was sitting across from her.
"Connor, give us a smile." Her grin was full of playful mischief.
Connor managed a faint smile.
Kruz and Adrian snapped to attention instantly, a chill running right up their spines!
"Bro, bro…!!!"
Connor kept smiling. "Looks like you two have plenty of free time. Training is now tripled. This June, if you don't pass the Enforcement Division's assessment..."
He let the sentence trail off.
Kruz and Adrian were nearly in tears. The current training schedule was already brutal; if it tripled...
That would be the death of them! And how on earth could they even hope to make it into the Enforcement Division with their skills?
"Bro, I was wrong, I shouldn't have said that about you," Kruz pleaded, practically crying.
Connor was unfazed.
Adrian swallowed hard. "Brother-in-law… I messed up… please cut us some slack."
Connor's eyes narrowed a bit. "You, double the training. Kruz, triple it."
Kruz: "..."
Come on!
Bro!
I'm your real brother! Just because Adrian called you brother-in-law, you're throwing principle out the window?!
"Flora, dinner's ready," Ethan called out, jogging over. "Don't chat with that big dummy too long, or you'll lose brain cells!"
Kruz: "..."
Could his status sink any lower?!
Just look at that.
Their meals had really stepped up today!
"Wipe the oil off your mouth," Moss said, glancing at Beck, casually moving a drumstick from his bowl to Beck's.
"If you like it, have some more."
Beck didn’t hesitate, planning to eat more, bulk up those muscles, and get strong!
Then he might just be able to take on Moss!
Hehe...
Just as Beck was dreaming big, a bodyguard rushed over, looking urgent, and whispered something in Moss's ear.
Moss's expression shifted immediately.
This wasn’t good!
He needed to tell the boss, pronto!
