The next morning at work, Marina received another bouquet of flowers from Jared. She frowned slightly but didn't say anything.
When a third bouquet arrived the following day, Marina had no choice but to call him. She kept her tone light. "Has Mr. Bailey been receiving non-stop praise for the last three days?"
"Not quite!" Jared laughed pleasantly. "I just wanted to make sure you start your day with something beautiful to put you in a good mood. They say the fragrance of the rose lingers on the hand that gives it. Just think of it as me being addicted to the feeling of giving."
Marina politely declined. "I'm already in a great mood. Receiving so many gifts actually makes me feel bad."
Jared chuckled. "Alright, I'll stop. Do you have time after work today?"
"What's going on?"
"There are a few project details I'd love to go over with you in person. The executive from your partner company reached out to me privately about a few things."
Marina understood instantly. She checked her schedule and said, "I get off around seven."
"I have meetings all afternoon, so that timing is perfect. I'll make a reservation. Any dietary preferences?"
"Anything is fine."
"Great, see you tonight."
Setting her phone down, Marina stared thoughtfully at the flowers before turning to her assistant. "Bring me the CM project files to review."
"Right away!" the assistant replied.
Marina kept a straight face and worked normally for the rest of the day. After clocking out, she drove to the restaurant Jared had booked.
It was an elegant Western restaurant. As soon as she walked in, she saw Jared waiting on the lobby sofa.
He was dressed impeccably in a well-tailored suit. Mature and charming, he was exactly at the age where a man is at his most sophisticated.
