Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 2247

Charlie let out a chuckle, "Who was it again that came to tell me Josiah got married? It wasn't me seeking you out, was it?"

Mrs. James couldn't help but laugh, waving her hand dismissively, "Oh, come on now. A mother knows her child best. I understand what's going on in that head of yours. Why don't you take Kya out for some fun? I'll take care of Emily here!"

Charlie grinned, slipping a jacket on Kya and scooping her up for an outdoor adventure.

After waiting a few minutes, Mrs. James saw Emily emerge and greeted her with a gentle smile, "Emily, dear, come sit."

Emily, sensing Mrs. James had something important to discuss, tensed up a little but managed a graceful smile, "Auntie!"

Mrs. James cut to the chase, "Josiah is a few years younger than Charlie, and he's already married. I just asked Charlie when you two are planning on tying the knot, and he told me to ask you. What do you think?"

Emily was momentarily taken aback, not immediately responding.

She wasn't quite sure what Mrs. James was getting at; was this a test, or was she suggesting Emily leave Charlie?

In that brief moment of silence, Emily had already prepared her response if Mrs. James suggested she leave—she wouldn't. She couldn’t imagine being apart from Charlie again.

Mrs. James, noticing Emily's hesitation, softened her expression, "Don't overthink it, dear. We're just having a chat. After all this time, there are things we ought to discuss openly and honestly."

Emily composed herself, "Go ahead."

Mrs. James smiled, "I've held onto my own beliefs, even going as far as to confront you alone when I first learned about you—out of concern for Charlie and our family's future. But I've come to realize not everything is black and white, and life is full of surprises, like Charlie falling for you."

"Charlie has had his fair share of relationships, and you're probably aware. Yet, he chose you, which means you possess qualities that captured his heart, making him think about settling down."

"Getting to know you has shown me why Charlie is drawn to you. His happiness is ultimately what matters most to me—I might be selfish in saying this, considering he's my only son. If he's happy and the woman he loves is kind, strong, and positive, who am I to object? Especially when she's gone through so much for our family."

Emily was astounded, "You mean—"

Mrs. James smiled warmly, "All I've said is to let you know my initial opposition wasn't personal and to apologize for any hurtful words. I hope you'll join our family, making us truly one."
