Violet’s POV
I nodded without hesitation and swallowed the medicine.
Asher let out a breath, his lips trembling slightly–he looked extremely uneasy.
“Hey, baby, are you okay?” I asked. “You look a bit tired…”
“Just dealing with some matters in the pack,” he said smoothly. “Nothing for you to worry about.”
“Are you sure?”
He tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. “Yeah, I’m sure,” he murmured. “Don’t worry, okay? You know, it’s not good for you and the baby.”
He was hiding something. I could feel it. But I couldn’t find a reason not to trust him.
I leaned back against the pillows, pushing away the uneasy
thoughts. Maybe Asher really was just exhausted from handling pack matters.
Chapter 190
He fell asleep quickly beside me, I reached out, running, my
fingers through his hair. He had been doing so much for me, for
the pack, for our child. A pang of guilt settled in my chest, I wished I could help him more, but right now, my focus had to be on our baby,
With that thought, I let my eyes close, my fingers still resting
lightly in his hair. Before I knew it, sleep pulled me under
But it didn’t last long,
A sudden wave of nausea hit me, jolting me awake in the
middle of the night,
My stomach twisted violently, and before I could even sit up
fully, Jurched forward, retching into the nearest basin,
The bitter taste burned my throat as I emptied the contents of
my stomach, my body trembling from the sudden sickness,
I gasped for breath, gripping the edge of the bed,
The medicine,
Thad thrown it all up. I wiped my mouth with the back of my
hand,
Chapter 190
Something didn’t feel right. My body had rejected the medicine
too quickly, almost unnaturally. I turned my head toward the
empty space beside me.
Asher was gone.
My heart pounded as I pushed myself up.
Philip was guarding the chamber when I looked out. I wanted
to go up to him and ask him about the whereabouts of Asher at
this time, but I let it be.
I gulped down my frustration and slept through the night,
alone.
The next morning, Olivia arrived with Mia.
Mia beamed as she climbed onto my lap, chatting excitedly
about the book she and Olivia had been reading.
I smiled, listening to her, but my focus was elsewhere.
When Olivia finally sat down, I glanced at her casually. “Olivia,
do you know where Philip was last night by any chance?”
“He was with me all night.” She hesitated. It was barely
noticeable, but I caught it.
Chapter 190
“Hm. Good.” I didn’t expose her. She’s lying. Clearly, she’s been
instructed by Philip. Maybe Asher is involved too. Yesterday, I
could smell the vampire scent on him, mixed with the magic
from my mother. What are they hiding from me?
And that medicine.
I decided to go find the Prophet. He was already waiting when I
arrived, as if he had known I would come.
I stood before him, my heart pounding. “Tell me the truth.”
“I cannot.” His expression didn’t change.
Good, this already says a lot. “Why? Because this involves me
and my child? What kind of game are you playing?”
“I gave my word to Asher. I cannot break it.” The Prophet said
calmly.
I clenched my fists. “You swore loyalty to your Alpha, but you also serve the pack. If something is happening to me, to my
child, I have the right to know.“”
“Then you can ask the Alpha, not me.”
“As the Alpha Queen, I am ordering you to speak.“I had no

choice but to bring out the strength of the queen.
The Prophet’s gaze darkened slightly. “Do not push me, Luna.”
I took a step forward. “Then tell me this–can you see a future where I give birth successfully?” ‘
Silence.
My pulse quickened. “Answer me.”
The Prophet hesitated, then finally spoke. “I can just tell you
this much. This child. will be the only one you and Asher will
ever have.” A cold chill crawled down my spine.
“What does that mean?” I whispered.
The Prophet didn’t answer. But before I could demand more
answers, the Prophet reached for a silver dagger. My breath
caught.
“What are you doing?”
He raised it to his chest. “I cannot speak.”
Panic shot through me.“Stop! I’m not asking you to die for this!” I
grabbed his wrist before he could drive the blade into himself.
Chapter 190
“Then you must leave.“The Prophet met my gaze, his
expression unreadable.
t
I let go of him slowly, my body trembling.
I had come for answers, but only left with more questions.
I walked back to my chambers, frustration simmering beneath
my skin. Everyone was hiding something from me–Asher,
Philip, even Olivia. The Prophet had nearly taken his own life
just to keep a secret.
I sat on the edge of the bed trying to piece things together.
A little later, the door creaked open. Asher stepped inside with
another vial in his hand.
“Baby, it’s time for your medicine,” Asher said with a smile as he
handed me the bottle. I stared at the vial. The same as before.
But I knew what I would do with this vial this time.
I forced a small smile, nodding. “Alright.”
His eyes stayed on me as I uncorked the vial. I lifted the vial to
my lips, tilting it just enough to make it look real–letting the liquid touch the rim but never my tongue. Setting the vial beside me, I exhaled softly, feigning exhaustion. “Thank you,

Asher.”
