She tried to wipe away her tears, and I smiled softly.

She’d been there for me since everything began. She supported me, my brothers, and her pack members. I couldn’t hold any of

this against her. Our childhood wasn’t perfect, but it wasn’t all

her fault. It wasn’t her burden to carry.

“Thanks for being here. I love you so much,” she looked at me

with tears gleaming in her eyes. She hugged me tightly, and I

couldn’t help but smile this time.

Asher’s POV

Candace, the witch who’s finally revealed herself to me, really

came through. She uncovered a lot of details we had no idea

about.

Turns out, the wolves and witches weren’t the only ones

involved. The bear clan had their hands in everything, too.

Convincing Xavier to punish some of the witches wasn’t easy. He’s been firm in his belief that all witches are guilty, but we

found a way to get through to him. Today’s the day we finally end this. The Council tried to divide us, but instead, they’ve only

made us stronger as a group.

Trusting Xavier is difficult for me. There’s always that fear he

might betray me like Isaac did. But for now, I’m willing to work

with him. This is for the people and to honor my father–because

I know that’s what he would have wanted.

Xavier and Matthew led me into the council chamber, where

we were about to confront them face–to–face.

“You look surprised seeing us here together,” I sneered to the

shock–looking council.

“You’ve turned on us,” one of the council members accused,

glaring at both Xavier and Matthew. I couldn’t hold back my

laughter.

“You really think you can stand there and act innocent? You

lied to me for years, knowing full well that you were

responsible for my mother’s death,” Xavier roared.

The shock on their faces was priceless. They clearly never

expected me or Xavier to know the truth. But blood always speaks louder than their lies.

“How could you trust him?” One of them scoffed, clearly

unsettled.

“Oh, I didn’t trust him at first. But you just confirmed it,” Xavier said coldly, leaning back with a smirk. The councils were visibly uncomfortable under his unblinking stare. They had no clue what he was capable of, and that uncertainty was eating

away at them.

“This was your uncle’s plan. We didn’t have a choice. We feared

him too much to say no.”

And there it was–the classic blame game. But this time, we were

in control.

“And you expect me to believe that excuse?” Xavier’s voice was

calm, but the power behind it was undeniable.

“We’ll put an end to this war, but you’ll also walk away with nothing. These two were just using you to get their way, and

you’ve handed them everything they wanted. Work with them and there will be no revenge for you.”

Their arrogance was astounding. They thought they had all the

“You don’t need to worry about his revenge. I’ll make sure he

gets it,” I said, enjoying the shock spreading across their faces.

your brother?” One of them asked, almost incredulously.

“No, but I’ll happily dismantle this council because you’re the

ones who’ve caused all this destruction.”
