Chapter147
They didn’t give me any response. I knew that not everyone in
this room know me very well and they probably blamed me for
the recent turbulence in this pack. But I hate when people
blame me for the council’s failures. I needed to straighten this
out.
“What would you have preferred I do?” I continued, my voice
steady. “Let them continue dictating our lives under their
outdated traditions?”
Silence.
Simon spoke up at this moment, “The council never had our
best interests in mind. They stood by while the former king
kept us in chains. They did nothing to protect us when there is a
danger. They turned a blind eye to our suffering. I can’t think of
one reason why we should keep them.”
The others nodded in agreement.
I exhaled sharply. “Well, this time, they’ve drawn first blood.
This isn’t going to be an easy fight. They’ve rallied the support
of more Alphas than I’d expected.””

Matthew crossed his arms. “They’re confident that they’ll take us down. Their attack will come soon. We’re running out of
time.”
I leaned forward, resting my hands on the table. “We’ve all
known the damage by now. And this is why I have summoned you guys–let’s come up with a solution together.” I wanted them to all pitch in because something this big affected everything in this pack.
Philip spoke up first. “Before anything, we need to figure out who’s truly on our side.”
“That’s right. And why they have turned against us. Maybe Alpha Xavier has offered them something that we don’t have,”
said a person that I don’t know the name of.
Simon frowned. “But if we start sniffing around, they’ll know
we suspect something. We need to act clever, quite.”
Matthew nodded. “I still have contacts I trust. I can try to get
information.””
I narrowed my eyes at him. “What kind of contacts are we
talking about here?”
Matthew held my gaze. “Alpha from Xavier’s side. Because I

was supposed to be the next Alpha King, many have already
approached and built connections with me. I can use this to our
advantage. They won’t hide anything when they talk to me.”
I considered his words. “Do it. But be careful. If you screw this
up, we’ll lose our only advantage.” I didn’t appreciate the fact
that he had been talking to Alpha behind my back, but I knew
he didn’t do it on purpose to piss me off.
Matthew nodded and left.
I turned to Philip. “I need you to keep Jayden close. If anyone
turns against us, it won’t be him.” Jayden and I may have some
misunderstandings. But when things were this big, I trusted
that he would stood firmly on my side.
Philip nodded, no hesitation, “You got it.”
He stood and left for his missions. The others in the room all
stared at me in awe. The look on their face told me that I had a
strong and united army.
“Simon, double security. I don’t want anyone slipping through
the cracks.”
He straightened. “Consider it done.”

Finally, I faced Lucas. “You have the hardest task of all-
protecting everyone. The warriors look up to you. Keep them
ready“”
Lucas stepped forward. “It would be our honor to fight for you
and the Queen. We’ll do everything we could to protect the
royal packhouse.”
Loyalty. It was rare these days, and I valued it more than ever.
“The rest of you,” I continued, scanning the room, “keep this
