Chapter11
Violet’s POV
Asher finally agreed to take me to Elena when he realized that I wouldn’t budge.
Elena’s house was quiet and lifeless. I walked pass the garden and saw that all the flowers had withered due to the lack of caring. She used to spend so much time in the garden, trimming, watering while humming a song. Now, everything was gone.
I fought the tears and walked into the house. It was even colder
inside.
“She is upstairs. Be careful yourself, Asher whispered to me.
I nodded and climbed up to Elena’s room. I knocked a couple of times, but nobody answered. So I quietly pushed the door open.
She was huddled on the couch, lifelessly staring at the photo on
the nightstand. It was her and Patrick. They were both laughing
widely in that photo, totally carefree.
It broke my heart seeing her like this. I went to hug her, “Elena,
it’s me.”
Her body was stiff, like she wasn’t a human being just a cold sculpture made of stone. It took her a long time before
murmuring my name, “Violet.”
Tears poured out of my eyes, “Yes I’m here for you now. You can
tell me anything. Don’t do this on your own.”
She rested her head on my shoulder and whispered in a light voice, “Do you remember what it was like when we were both
17?”
“Yes, vividly.” I held her icy hands, “We were 2 stupid teenager girls who had too many dreams and didn’t know what to do with
them.”
A faint smile played on her lips, “Yes dream. Technically, we only
had one dream when we were 17: we were too busy dreaming
about our mates. Remember how you pictured your dream
man?”
“I want him to be exactly like Asher,” I smiled.
I had a huge crush on Asher. I didn’t notice any other boys
growing up. It was no secret in our pack.
She giggled lightly, “Yes, you want Alpha Asher. And I want a
warrior to be my mate. He must be strong, brave, and is able to
protect me from any dangers. And Patrick.he is everything that I
ever wanted you know?”
I nodded quietly in the dark. I could tell that Patrick was an
upstanding me. It was a shame that we didn’t get to know each
other better.
“He died trying to protect me. A rogue came at back, but I didn’t
see it.” she started crying, her voice full of torture. “And just like
that–I lost him. Everything happened so fast. I can’t believe it
Violet.how can we lose something that we have been dreaming
for 10 years in just a quick second?”
I tightened my arms around her, hoping to share her burden. Life
was so unfair sometimes. Why did it have to do this to a perfect
couple like them?
“He said he loved me before he goes. And his last words were. ‘Be
strong, Elena. Live a happy and long life. But I.I don’t think I can.
He can’t just leave me behind and expect me to be happy.it’s not
possible.”
She buried her face into her hands, sobbing.
“You can do it, Elena. Because we all know that you are strong,” I
said in a soft voice. “It is going to be hard as hell at first. But you
can make it.”
She looked up to me with a bitter smile, “I will never be as strong
as you. Can you promise me something, Violet?”
I held her hand tightly, “Anything!” I tried very hard to warm her hands. But no matter how hard I tried, her hands stayed ice cold.
“There is something I want to leave you with,” she said. “It is too
precious. I can’t trust anyone else with it. Only you. Promise me
that you will take good care of her, just like how you take care of
“I can’t lose you, Elena. You are the one last good thing in my life.
I tell you that I love you?”
I touched her hand. It was even colder than yesterday. I listened
