Falling For My Cruel Mate novel Chapter 53

"Why was your chair knocked down like that?" Octavia asks, an eyebrow raised. I look up to meet her green eyes and narrow mine. Should I tell her the truth? I mean she already knows that I'm a complete hot head with anger issues.

"I got angry and so instead of ripping someone's head off I knocked my chair over and slammed my hands on the desk." I take a seat in my chair and pull the large leather book in front of me.

Octavia's eyebrow fall back into place and she nods her head slowly in understanding.

"What's going on?" Siren asks, her leg bounces up and down rapidly giving away how nervous she was.

"What's going on is, you failed to inform us that Jalex happened to have a silver wolf." I say folding my hands on top of my desk in front of me.

Siren's leg came to a complete stop and her face stiffens. Her brown eyes met mine and they were immediately filled with regret and fear.

"You look scared." I comment leaning forward. "Which leads me to believe that you did in-fact know that Jalex has a silver wolf and you purposely didn't say anything."

"I didn't mean any harm. I-I I just didn't want to cause any more problems or freak you guys out even more. I told you he was coming. I didn't think it mattered that Octavia dreamt about it."

"It matters when she's had this same dream many times before." My voice was sharp and cold. "Withholding information is worse than telling us and making us 'freak out'."

"I'm sorry." She hangs her head in shame and I roll my eyes. As if her apology means anything to me or could better the situation that we are in.

"Don't apologize, think. Did Jalex give any indication as to when he planned on attacking?"

"No." Siren whispers out. Well that's fucking useless.

I sigh heavily and push my fingers through my hair tugging on it slightly in anger and frustration. If I'm going to keep Octavia safe I need to be prepared. Samuel needs to be informed. Border patrol needs to be doubled along with pack training sessions. We need to be prepared.

"Snow." Octavia says just loud enough for us all to hear. I look up at her. Her eyes were trained on the floor in front of her for a few moments before her eyes drifted up to meet mine.

"What?" Siren asks.

"In my dream, there was a thin layer of snow on the ground." Octavia clarifies. "There was snow in all of them now that I think about it..."

Today is November seventh. We only had a few weeks until December, which is when the first snow fall takes place. I sigh partially in relief. I have time to prepare not only myself but my pack.

Jalex will regret even dreaming of taking his revenge out on my mate.

Octavia:

November ninth.

"I think you're hot." Cipher winks at Siren.

"Barf." I say out loud pretending to vomit over my unappealing salad. There's not even any grilled chicken in it.

"Just eat your damn food." Cipher sighs.

"It looks bland." Siren says glancing over at the bowl. "Why don't you put some ranch on it?"

My eyes brighten up and I put on my fakest smile, just for Cipher. "What an amazing idea. Right Cipher?"

"I give up." She grumbles and places the bottle of ranch on the table and walks away.

I practically throw myself onto the table just to reach for the bottle and begin drizzling the delicious dressing all over my salad.

I finish my bowl of greens while listening to Siren drone on and on about how much she loves boys. Back home she was quite the player. She left all the boys heartbroken and wanting more. She once told me that mating right away is bore and that playing with boys was much more fun. Apparently she still feels that way.

I place my empty bowl into the sink and excuse myself from her presence. I had some Luna duties to attend to.

I make my way over to the pack house, which seemed extremely chaotic at the moment. Men were pacing back at forth with a look of concern and sometimes speaking loudly, while women and mothers tried to calm the crying or upset children.
