Dumping The Ice King His Mini-Tyrant novel Chapter 549

It wasn’t that Selene had never seen a man cook; she had memories of Luke Holloway at the stove since she was a little girl. But she had never watched her brother’s movements with such appreciation. How could someone look so graceful even while standing at a stove? When she was in the kitchen, she couldn’t imagine looking remotely elegant, even while just tossing a simple salad.

Adrian was just one of those people who did everything with an effortless grace—whether he was sitting in her passenger seat acting as her navigator or kissing her, his refined features were captivating.

His posture was perfect. The camera in the living room, aimed at the kitchen entrance, captured his long legs and perfectly proportioned, model-like figure. Just then, Daph appeared in the frame and walked over to Adrian, who handed her a finished dish. Since it was just the two of them, the portion was small, but it was served on an elegant, oversized plate.

After Daph helped set the table, Adrian brought out two bowls of rice from the kitchen. As he walked out, Selene saw him cast a casual glance toward the security camera.

That one look made her feel inexplicably guilty, like a thief caught spying. Surely he didn’t know she was watching him right now, did he? Then again, there was an adult man in her home; it was perfectly reasonable for her to monitor his every move.

Adrian sat down with Daph, their bowls filled with a similar amount of rice. Daph picked up her fork and dug in with gusto. Adrian’s cooking had gotten better and better, perfectly suited to her daughter’s tastes.

Just watching Daph eat on the screen made Selene’s stomach rumble, a hollow ache echoing through her.

At that moment, a knock came at her office door. Selene pressed the button on her desk to unlock it.

Her assistant entered. “Ms. Thompson, your dinner has arrived.”

Selene immediately recognized the insulated lunchbox from her own kitchen. She walked over and opened it. Inside, the brown rice was molded into the shape of a heart. On top of the vegetables, a cute cartoon figure made of nori and fish cake smiled up at her. It looked an awful lot like Adrian. In the meat section, several strands of green onion had been arranged to spell out the words: “Take a big bite.”

A flush crept up Selene’s cheeks, and she quickly snapped the lid shut.

Her assistant pulled out a set of utensils that were completely different from the usual disposable ones. “Ms. Thompson, is something wrong with the food?” she asked, already suspecting this wasn’t the dinner she had ordered.

“No, it’s fine,” Selene said quickly. Seeing the confusion in her assistant’s eyes, she invented an excuse. “It’s from my brother. He cooked for me.”
