Dumping The Ice King His Mini-Tyrant novel Chapter 522

“Wait a moment.”

Harrison called after the waiter.

The waiter returned promptly, polite and attentive. “Mr. Vaughn, is there anything else I can get for you?”

Harrison opened his mouth, but the words caught in his throat. What did Selene like to eat again? What dishes did she usually make? But those—he realized—were always the meals he and the kids preferred. He knew embarrassingly little about Selene’s own tastes.

He set the menu down and said, “Add another seven of your house specialties to our order.”

The waiter nodded, confirming the additional plates before quietly slipping away.

Harrison sat alone at the round table. He was unaccustomed to scenes like this; usually, guests would arrive first, waiting respectfully for his entrance. But now, he sat in the echoing emptiness of a private dining room, unsure what to do with himself. His heart thudded faster and faster, and his mind spun restlessly, wandering to places it shouldn’t go.

Selene appeared in the doorway. She wore a pale blue silk blouse paired with wide-legged jeans—a simple, comfortable outfit that suited her. She entered with a confident stride, almost as if she carried a breeze in with her.

The moment she stepped inside, Harrison found himself holding his breath. He didn’t take his eyes off her for a second.

It was as if he was seeing Selene for the first time. He studied her, over and over, searching for something.

How could someone look so poised after a divorce, without a trace of exhaustion or defeat? She was like a lustrous pearl—radiant even in the dim light, undiminished by shadows.

Selene chose the seat furthest from him.

They sat face to face, an entire gulf between them.

“I’ll keep this brief so I don’t waste your time, Mr. Vaughn.”

Selene’s tone was crisp, all business. Across from her, Harrison wore the faintest, coldest smile at the corner of his lips.

He wanted to see how long she could keep up this distant, untouchable act.
