Dumping The Ice King His Mini-Tyrant novel Chapter 456

Selene exchanged a glance with Leo before answering the call. Gwyneth’s languid voice drifted through the speaker.

“Miss Thompson, have you forgotten you’re the head of QuanTech Innovations? I hear you haven’t shown up at the office in quite some time.”

There was a definite note of accusation in Gwyneth’s tone.

Selene replied smoothly, “Ms. Lockridge, with your busy schedule, I suppose you haven’t heard I’ve been in the hospital lately.”

“I heard you’ve been discharged.” Gwyneth’s voice was icy, with no hint of concern.

Selene could sense Gwyneth was running out of patience, so she agreed, “I’ll be at QuanTech today.”

Leaning back against the sofa, relaxed and composed, Selene’s voice softened as she addressed Gwyneth, “I hope your staff won’t disappoint me, Ms. Lockridge.”

Gwyneth shot back, “Let’s hope you don’t disappoint me, Miss Thompson.”

After hanging up, Selene turned to Leo. “Professor, do you have time to go out with me today?”

Leo looked up at her, his gaze calm. “And what exactly do you need from me?”

Lowering her eyes to the employment contract in her hand, Selene’s excitement bubbled up; her clear eyes sparkled. “I’m officially the new director of Draco Research Institute. You’ll have to take your role as my mentor seriously now.”

Leo, cool and reserved as ever, understood her intentions in a heartbeat. He pressed a button on the armrest and stood up. “Come with me.”

Meanwhile, at Serenity Church, an unexpected drama was unfolding.

Harrison had just returned from the vegetable garden, looking as if he’d crawled through a sewer. He pinched his nose, his expression twisted with disgust. For someone obsessively clean, the stench on his clothes was unbearable.

He made his way to the public showers. It wasn’t the usual time for bathing, so the hot water was off, but Harrison was willing to brave the cold if it meant avoiding the other brothers. He’d rather freeze in solitude than share the showers.

He’d barely stripped off his filthy clothes when a group of people appeared behind him.

At first, he assumed they were fellow residents of the church. Leo had assigned plenty of people to keep an eye on him; it wouldn’t be the first time someone was stationed outside the door to prevent him from slipping away. Even being watched during a shower had become routine.
