“Harrison! Take your meds, now!”
“Get off me! I’m leaving!”
As Harrison shouted, Felicity shoved the pills into his mouth. She clamped her hand over his lips, and he felt the bitter taste dissolve on his tongue.
His eyes widened in fury, a low growl rumbling from his throat.
He watched helplessly as Adrian opened the door, only to shut it again with a click.
Felicity grabbed at his neck, her fingers kneading his skin in desperation.
“Ugh!”
The antidote slid down his throat. Harrison didn’t care about anything else; he shoved Felicity aside, lunging for the door. He turned his back and tried to twist the handle with his free fingers, only to realize Adrian had locked it from the outside.
“Adrian! Damn it! Open the door!”
Furious, Harrison kicked the door with all his strength.
Inside the room, Felicity clung to him like warm wax, refusing to let go.
“Harrison, help me! Please!”
Her body burned with fever, and the drugs made her frantic. She clawed at his shirt, desperate for relief.
The veins in Harrison’s neck bulged like tangled roots. He crashed against the door, and from behind, he heard the sharp clink of his belt buckle coming undone.
“No! Stop!”
Harrison’s voice echoed around the room.

In the grand ballroom:
A handful of society’s elite glanced around, one of them asking, “Where’s Mr. Vaughn?”
“Mr. Vaughn assaulted Mr. Shaw. Ms. Thompson surely wouldn’t let him stick around—the man’s probably been thrown out by now.”
Another mogul chuckled. “Miss Thompson actually kicked her ex-husband out of her own company’s building. Is she openly declaring war on the Vaughn family? She’d better hope Mr. Shaw keeps her in his good graces, because if he ever dumps her, the Vaughns will grind her into the dirt.”
Selene stood nearby, chatting with The Shaw Group’s senior executives. She glanced at her watch—by now, Harrison and Felicity would have lost all self-control.
Originally, Harrison planned to team up with Felicity—an inside-outside job. They intended to expose Adrian in a scandal right in the middle of the acquisition gala.
But he’d picked the wrong partner. Felicity was hopelessly incompetent.
