Dumping The Ice King His Mini-Tyrant novel Chapter 246

“Kids look up to strength—isn’t that normal?” Felicity spoke up for Dames.

“What’s wrong with wanting a mom who’s a little more impressive?”

Selene shot her a look of utter disdain. “With a brain that small, you really think you’re qualified to talk to me?”

“You—!” Felicity swallowed her anger, mindful of her image with so many people watching. She bit back the curse that rose to her lips, then turned and cast a pleading glance at Harrison.

Harrison’s face was grim, his chest tight with emotions he couldn’t let out. The sun blazed overhead, but every breath he took felt like a blade of ice cutting into his nose.

His voice was cold and flat, like a pond frozen solid. “You revealed your true identity in front of everyone—don’t tell me you weren’t hoping we’d suddenly see you in a new light!”

Selene gave a cool, almost amused smile. “I don’t even like you anymore. Could you stop flattering yourself?”

Harrison pressed his lips into a thin line, every feature of his face growing hard and cold.

“I didn’t go public as a racecar driver to impress you or your son,” Selene told him. “I didn’t compete in the ALI Math Competition because I wanted your approval. I just want to be Selene now—not Mrs. Vaughn.”

A reporter thrust a microphone toward her. “Miss Thompson, it’s clear there’s a lot of history between you, your ex-husband, and your son. Can you tell us why you stayed with the Vaughn family for seven years before finally leaving?”

Selene’s gaze lost focus. She drew in a long, steadying breath. “Because I became a mother.”

After her children were born, she’d spent countless nights watching them sleep, watching them laugh, drying their tears, wrapping their tiny bodies in her arms. She bathed them, cooked for them, patiently taught them to speak their first words.

She never wanted to miss a single moment as they grew. Seeing them was enough to fill her heart with joy.

As long as they loved each other, she was content.

She looked at Dames, her dark eyes steady. “All I can say is, on the journey of being a mother, I’ve given it everything I have.”

“You did it on purpose!” Dames shouted, unable to bear the calm, detached look Selene gave him. He could feel she no longer had any expectations of him.

It was like someone had stepped on his tail—he lashed out, venting all his anger at her.

“You showed off your driving skills just so I’d look up to you, so you could take off your helmet today and make me regret ever rejecting you as my mom!”

She pulled out her phone and saw a new message from the lighting tech she’d paid to help pull off her little stunt.

“Flick, I got caught.”

Felicity’s heart skipped a beat. Oh no.

She quickly looked up—Dames was leaving. Without thinking, she hurried after him.

Dames ran, sobbing, tears blurring his vision. He couldn’t even say why he was so heartbroken—his chest ached with feelings he couldn’t name.

He stumbled, crashing to the ground, his knees stinging with pain. He didn’t have the strength to get up.

Frustrated, he pounded the ground with his fists, only to hurt his hand as well, which made him cry even harder.

Someone walked over and helped him up.

Dames froze, his eyes wide. Instinctively, he turned and blurted, “Mommy…”
