Looking at the dark, imposing crowd of bodyguards filling the room.
Shanley raised an eyebrow and smiled. "What's going on? We're just playing some cards. Is this massive show of force really necessary?"
"Sir, your wife was caught red-handed cheating!"
A staff member immediately spoke up. "Either leave the money and pay the fine, or we call the cops, and you can explain it to them."
In Caelus, cheating in a casino was a severe offense.
A light sentence meant a hefty fine; a heavy one meant prison time.
Given the massive amount of money involved in their case, jail was a certainty.
Wealthy people like them valued their reputation above all else.
If a problem could be solved with money, they'd pay it.
"You can call the cops, but hold on a minute."
Shanley walked forward, taking a seat beside Juniper and setting the creamy cheese mochi in front of her. "Try this. Freshly made. Creamy cheese flavor."
"Hold on?"
Rocco muttered the phrase, sneering. "Hold on for what?"
Were they trying to pull some kind of trick?!
"Wait for my wife to finish her food." Shanley shot him a sideways glance, speaking with agonizing nonchalance. "She hates it when people squawk while she's eating."
Rocco actually let out a sharp laugh of pure anger.
Did they understand whose territory they were on?
What kind of place did this couple think this was?
They were awfully arrogant!
"Sir, if you keep being unreasonable, don't blame us for getting the police involved!"
The staff member's face hardened as he delivered the grim threat. "Get ready to make the call."
"Yes, sir!"
The two of them played their parts perfectly, waiting to see how the couple would react.
Instead of panicking, the couple showed zero reaction, entirely focused on eating their creamy cheese mochi.
This... this made absolutely no sense!
