Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1865

To most people, Jude seemed dull, overly rigid, and obsessed with the rules. But in reality, his powers of observation and deduction were extraordinary. He had even figured out that the person Channing was in love with was Coralie.

Channing hadn't been able to help himself and had asked Jude how he figured it out.

Pushing his glasses up his nose, Jude had answered with a deadpan expression, "You talk in your sleep during your afternoon naps. You called out her name."

"I want you to take your vacation early. Go home and rest for half a month," Channing told him. "I've already wired your bonus into your account."

"I'm not tired, Governor." Jude was a total workaholic; the more he worked, the more fulfilled he felt.

That was precisely why Channing was able to slack off and spend his days playing bodyguard for Coralie.

"That was an order, not a request." Channing frowned. "Take the vacation, or hand in your resignation."

"I'll take the vacation." Jude was a man who knew when to fold. "Thank you, Governor."

"Dismissed."

Channing waved him off before pushing open the door to Alaric's villa.

"Mr. Irving, welcome back." The steward hurried over. Spotting the white suitcase, he asked carefully, "Shall I take that up to your room for you, sir?"

Every time Channing returned, he always stayed in his grandfather's villa.

"No need." Channing kept a tight grip on the handle. "Where's my grandfather?"

"Ah, him?" The steward deliberately raised his voice, practically shouting toward the hallway. "He's been so plagued by worry lately. Can't eat, can't sleep. He's resting in bed right now."

"Is that so?" Channing's lips curved into a faint, knowing smile. "Has he seen a doctor? What was the diagnosis?"

"Ahem."

The steward cleared his throat and lowered his voice. "The doctor said... maybe we should take him out for some KFC. It might be the only cure."

The old man had high blood pressure and cholesterol, so he was strictly forbidden from eating anything overly greasy.

But lately, he had been acting like a rebellious child, developing a severe addiction to fried chicken. He kept trying to secretly order takeout.

"I'll go check on him." Channing knew exactly what was going on.
