Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1861

She hastily tried to scramble up, but her hands pressed against somewhere they absolutely shouldn't have.

Channing let out a muffled groan, his expression looking even more pained than when he had bumped into the tub.

"I'm fine."

He grabbed her wrist, his gaze turning dark and intense. "The water's getting cold. You should finish washing up."

"Oh."

Coralie silently sat back down. Since the bathtub wasn't very large, it was a tight squeeze for the two of them.

It didn't take long for her to notice his unusual reaction.

He seemed... to be getting aroused.

"I'll step out first, Ms. Quill." Channing stood up, the water cascading down his muscular frame.

Leaning against the tub, Coralie quietly watched him towel off.

Suddenly, as if possessed, she blurted out, "Do you need a hand with that?"

He had waited for her in the freezing wind all day, after all.

Channing turned back, staring at her in shock. He asked tentatively, "By 'a hand,' do you mean what I think you mean?"

"What do you think I mean?" she shot back.

He didn't dare answer, terrified of crossing a line.

Every time this happened, she had to be the one to initiate before he ever dared to respond.

Perhaps the alcohol had gone to her head and burned away her rationale, because Coralie simply nodded.

And then—

She watched as Channing pounced on her like a starving lion.

The situation rapidly spiraled completely out of control.

—

By the time things finally settled down.

It was already the middle of the night.

Exhausted, Coralie lay on the bed, not wanting to move a single muscle.

She had been entirely too indulgent lately.

Right before drifting off, she vaguely remembered there was something important she needed to take care of.

But for the life of her, she couldn't remember what it was.

Whatever.

As long as it wasn't the end of the world, nothing was going to interrupt her sleep.

After cleaning up the chaotic mess in the bathroom, Channing returned to her side.

Looking at the sleeping girl, a wave of frustration washed over him.

Right at the critical moment, he had realized there was no protection in the room.

Even though he had pulled out in time, there was still a slight risk.
