Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1848

"Coralie, it's been years. It's time for you to move on,"

Ebony Fox said earnestly, stroking her hair.

"I have moved on," she replied, raising her eyebrows with a soft, breezy tone. "Otherwise, I wouldn't have kept so many boy toys around."

"I just don't want to get married. I don't want to be tied down by a piece of paper."

"If I want to switch guys, I switch guys. If I want younger ones, I get younger ones. It's absolute freedom."

Listening intently, Ebony Fox actually found her sister's logic quite convincing.

Getting married definitely meant kissing that kind of freedom goodbye.

Just as she was deep in thought, a pair of hands clamped onto her shoulders.

Kurt drifted over like a ghost, staring right at her as he enunciated every word clearly.

"If you dare back out of marrying me, I'll jump off the roof right now."

"I never said I wasn't going to marry you," Ebony Fox finally managed to choke out after a long silence.

"Okay."

He gave a crooked, entirely unserious smirk. "Then I won't jump just yet."

Ebony Fox: "Shut up and get out."

"Yes, honey," he grinned cheekily.

She pressed her lips together, a fierce blush spreading across her cheeks.

"That little fox Kurt really loves you," Coralie said from the couch, watching the two of them banter. "The Schwartz family breeds romantics. I guess that saying is totally true."

"What about you?"

Ebony Fox turned to her, asking softly, "Do you like Channing?"

She froze slightly, the smile on her face stiffening.

Like?

No one had ever asked her that question before, and she had never really thought about it.

Maybe a little.

At the very least, she definitely liked his face and his body.

"What does it matter if I do?" She shrugged with a dismissive smile. "There are plenty of men I like. He's just one of them."
