Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1845

Coralie walked ahead while Channing followed with the gifts.

Soon, the door opened, and a white-haired older woman appeared.

"Ms. Quill, what brings you here?" The older woman looked surprised for a moment. "Come in, come in."

Then she glanced at Channing behind her and instinctively blurted out, "Young—"

Coralie turned around, a questioning look in her eyes.

He frowned slightly, and the old woman was so startled she nearly bit her tongue.

Realizing she almost blew his cover, she quickly covered it up. "You shouldn't have bought so many things. We have everything we need here."

"It's from Miss. Just take it," he said softly. "It's cold out. Don't catch a chill."

"Oh, okay!"

She didn't dare say anything else, terrified of making another slip.

She wasn't actually his biological grandmother, but rather the nanny who raised him.

Three years ago, her young master had said he fell in love with a girl.

But the girl was hard to get, so he needed her to play a supporting role.

She never expected this little act to drag on for three whole years.

Even after three years of hard work, her young master still hadn't secured an official title.

How pitiful.

"Please, have a seat, Ms. Quill." She quickly brought out all the snacks and fruits she had in the house.

Coralie took one look and realized they were all her favorites.

"Channing never knows when you might drop by, so he always keeps a stash ready," she said with a warm smile. "Has this brat been behaving himself lately? He hasn't made you mad, has he?"

"He's been fine." Coralie's lips curled up, her voice light. "He's obedient, and he gets things done."

Hearing the praise, the corners of his mouth twitched upward.

What a bunch of nonsense.

"That's good." The old woman nodded in satisfaction.

They chatted for a bit longer before Coralie stood up to leave.

"Ms. Quill."

While Channing stepped away to pull the car around, the old woman hurried after her, looking awkwardly at her. "Did something happen recently? Several times when Channing came back, he just sat in the living room staring blankly into space. He'd sit there all night."
