Don't Leave Me, Mate (by AlisTae) novel Chapter 255

Ava was taken aback to see him in the room. She frowned at him with cold eyes.

lan’s back was pressed against the wall. It was as though the wall was supporting his body. His face was nowhere near to match his appearance.

His eyes were bloodshot and red. But if anyone observed in carefully, they could see the sorrow inside them.

However, Ava had no intention of observing him. She walked in his direction, reaching for the door so she could leave the room immediately.

There wa

was no way she could be in the same room with lan Dowson.

Just as she reached the door, lan raised his hand to block it. She moved backward by one step.

י

What are you trying to do?she asked.

He did not reply as he remained silent.

Her

eyes fell on his bloodied knuckles, which almost widened her eyes. However, she was able to keep her emotions under control and asked,

What happened to your hand?

His eyes moved to his wounded hand, then he returned his gaze back to her.

He let out a hoarse voice when he spoke up.

Are you concerned for me?

The question that he asked left Ava speechless. Was she concerned for him?

She looked directly into his eyes and muttered angrily,

Why would I be concerned for you? If there had been someone else present in this room with me, rather than you, I would have asked him the same question.

Something flickered in his eyes; he fisted his hand, causing blood to ooze out of his knuckles.

The sight of that startled Ava. How did he get such a deep wound?

She remembered how he tried to talk to him last night and punched his car. She scoffed at him, saying,

Don’t tell me you punched something tonight like you did last night. It looks like Mr. Ian can do nothing but only punch on the things.

Ian stared at her without saying anything. She was surprised that her words had not enraged him. In truth, she made that remark to mock him.

When she saw him look into her eyes, her heart rate increased. She gulped, attempting to take her gaze away from him. However, she was unable to tear her eyes off of him.

She blinked when she noticed his eyes becoming softer. She took another step back when she realized it was the same gaze he used to give her four years ago.

Her mind trembled, oblivious to her heart. She wondered if he was pulling a prank on her.

With that soft gaze, Ava felt scared. She had no idea why she was scared backward until her back hit against something.

de, She blinked a few times, moving

She hissed as a slight pain in her back struck against a small closet full of books.

A hand quickly grabbed her wrist, pulling her toward a hard chest.

With the bloodied hand, lan cupped her cheek. His voice came out as honey with a very low tone.

Are you okay?

Ava froze in the state. She forgot to blink as her eyes were co lan’s jacket. She refused to move her gaze to look at

him.

She was frozen in some way by his touch, feeling something she had not felt in four years.

What was going on with her?

When she regained consciousness, she pushed him as hard as she could. It caused him to move away from her. His back struck the wall next to her.

As if he had been severely injured, he groaned.

She was taken aback. Why did he react like that? He was an Alpha who had so much strength to get any wounds healed. How could her mere push cause him pain, as though his back were actually hurt?

She assumed he was just acting.

What makes you so weak? You got hurt from a woman’s push?

Her words were sarcastic toward him. But he did not respond as he gritted his teeth.

What? Are you mad at me for saying that? Come on, spill your poison to me,she said, trying to make him more angry. She did not want to see that softness in his eyes again.

The room fell silent as he remained quiet, closing his eyes.

For a moment, Ava felt guilty for pushing him so hard.
