Paige didn't register the finality in her son's voice. Her eyes immediately landed on Wiona standing beside him.
She came too?
How dare she!
“You little bitch…”
Paige lunged forward to slap Wiona, but Ryan caught her arm.
“Mother, what do you think you’re doing?”
Paige glared furiously at her son. “What do you think I’m doing?”
“If she hadn’t come back today, if she hadn’t spouted all that nonsense and ruined our family, ruined my relationship with your father, would I be in this state?”
“You ungrateful brat, get it through your head, I am your mother!”
“You’d rather protect this little bitch than me… I’m so disappointed!”
A flash of pain crossed Ryan’s eyes. “You blame everything on Wiona, but have you ever considered your own actions?”
“Stop being unreasonable.”
“You have one last chance. Tell the truth about what happened to Aunt Luna.”
“Otherwise, I really won’t be able to protect you anymore…”
As he spoke, Ryan’s eyes grew red.
This was his mother.
No matter how arrogant or unpleasant she was, her love for him had always been genuine.
How could he, like anyone else, just coldly cut ties and ignore her?
He looked at Paige, hoping she would see reason.
He didn't believe his mother was the true mastermind. If she were, her first reaction upon seeing Wiona would have been guilt and fear, not a petty attempt to squabble over his late aunt's inheritance.
However, Paige completely ignored the plea in her son’s eyes.
Feeling even more wronged than Ryan, she pointed a finger at him and cried, “I’m being unreasonable?”
“Ryan, you are my son, not Luna’s!”
