“My Luna was my only daughter. Was it you? Did you kill her?”
“When she was alive, you meddled in her love life. When she died, you went after her inheritance. The moment Wiona came back, you couldn’t wait to start attacking her.”
“Paige, tell me the truth. From the very beginning, when you married into the Blue family, were you already plotting against us?”
Paige was trembling. Her legs buckled and she almost collapsed right there.
“No, I didn’t… I swear…”
Stephen didn’t bother yelling at her anymore. Instead, he turned on his son.
“And you, Carter!”
His voice was rough with anger. “You fool… You found your sister years ago. Why didn’t you bring her home? Why didn’t you tell us?”
“If we’d found Luna, maybe she wouldn’t have died. Maybe she wouldn’t have ended up alone in the street, dying right after giving birth.”
“How can you even stand here and look Luna’s daughter in the eye?”
Carter dropped to his knees.
Paige scrambled after him, grabbing his arm, tears streaming down her face. “It wasn’t me… Carter, say something. Tell Dad I didn’t do it. I never hurt Luna, I swear…”
“Carter, please… say something!”
“Ryan, help your mom, please—say something for me!”
Ryan just stared at her, his face twisted with grief. “Mom. Did you hurt Aunt Luna or not?”
Paige’s voice rose, frantic and broken. “I told you, I didn’t! I didn’t! You don’t have any proof, so why are you accusing me?”
“I won’t admit to something I didn’t do! I won’t!”
For a moment, the room was silent. Then Grandma Julia finally spoke, her voice quiet but firm, every word landing with finality.
“Paige, you know the rules of the Blue family.”
“We may not have evidence now. But it doesn’t mean we won’t find it.”
“If it turns out you had a hand in Luna’s death, you will not stay in this family.”
“We don’t play power games in the Blue family. And we don’t keep anyone who would harm their own kin.”
“Starting today, you are confined to your room.”
“We’ll find out the truth. Until then, you’re not to leave.”
“If you’re innocent, we will clear your name. We’ll make things right. But from this moment, you cannot represent the Blue family in public, not anywhere.”
As soon as Grandma Julia finished, Paige let out a desperate scream. “No…!”
Carter looked up at the scene, his eyes hollow, his face a mess of guilt and numbness.
He knew deep down, this was all his fault.
If he hadn’t been so obsessed with Paige back then… If he hadn’t let her get close to Luna, knowing Paige was in love with Luna’s boyfriend… maybe things would have turned out differently.
“Dad, Mom… punish me.”
His voice was heavy with regret.
“It was me. I told Paige that Luna was in Stonehill.”
“I knew Paige was pushing Luna to run away, but I didn’t stop her. I just had someone follow Luna, that’s how I found out where she went.”
“I kept it from you, to protect Paige.”
“Later, Paige begged me for Luna’s whereabouts, so I told her. Only her. Not long after, Luna disappeared again…”
“All these years, I should have suspected her, but I kept looking away. I just couldn’t face it.”
“Until today… Wiona came back. She told me the Thompsons tried to stop her from finding out who she is…”
“I can’t lie to myself anymore. The Thompson family has always been a part of this.”
“I deserve whatever happens. I’m so sorry, Luna. It’s all my fault.”
