“We’re not going back to the manor?”
“That’s right,” Conrad said.
“We’re not going home tonight.”
“I want to take you out. Just to relax, clear your mind a bit.”
Wiona was still trying to wrap her head around it. “Wait, do you mean we’re bringing Kane and Derek with us?”
“You know, they’ve never left the estate since they were born. Maybe it’s time to show them the world outside.”
“So… where are we going?”
“I’ll call Rosa and have her set things up.”
Honestly, Wiona could use a break.
So much had happened lately. Maybe getting away from everything for a little while would help her breathe again.
But as she reached for her phone, Conrad gently stopped her. He looked right into her eyes, his voice suddenly serious.
“Wiona, just us. Tonight, you’re not a mom, and I’m not a dad. Let’s just be a couple for a change. Newlyweds, sneaking off for our own little adventure. What do you say?”
He pulled her into his arms, and Wiona’s cheeks instantly turned bright red.
Of course she knew what he meant.
A world for just the two of them… it sounded so tempting.
They’d been married for a while now, but there was still one big milestone they hadn’t reached yet.
They both wanted it, she knew that. They’d done everything else, but that last step had always been just out of reach.
Still…
She hesitated.
“But the babies… I don’t know if I can leave them. What if I miss them too much? I haven’t spent a single night away from them since they were born.”
Wiona couldn’t stand being apart from the twins. Whenever she wasn’t with them, it felt like something was missing. Even when she was out during the day, she always felt the urge to rush home and see them, just to make sure they were okay.
Letting go, even for one night, wasn’t easy.
Conrad made a show of looking hurt.
“So now you only care about the boys? What about me?”
“You could at least spare a little attention for your poor husband.”
“Don’t give your whole heart to them. Save a piece for me, will you?”
“I need your love too, you know…”
Wiona tried not to laugh.
Wasn’t this the same Mr. Sullivan who was supposed to be so tough and decisive?
“Oh my gosh.”
“Is this our beautiful bride?”
“Oh wow, seeing you in person is even better than I imagined, Ms. Morgan—no, Mrs. Sullivan! So you’re the famous W!”
“This is wild! I can’t believe I’m designing a wedding dress for the genius artist W!”
“Mr. Sullivan only gave me your measurements; he never told me who you really were!”
“What am I going to do? Now I feel like my design isn’t good enough for you.”
“Mr. Sullivan, you really kept me in the dark. If you’d shown me a photo of your wife earlier, I would have had so much more inspiration. I’d have designed something even better for her.”
“With a face and figure like yours, you deserve a dress that’s even more incredible than anything I imagined.”
“Honestly, next to you, this gown looks kind of plain. Maybe you should reschedule the wedding and let me make you a new one?”
Conrad crossed his arms and gave the designer, Danny, a cool, unimpressed look. “What do you think?”
Danny just shrugged, touching the bridge of his nose. “Alright, I get it.”
Wiona couldn’t help but laugh.
She never would’ve guessed that her wedding dress designer would be Danny, the most famous designer in the country.
He’d done more runway shows than she could count, and now here he was, acting all humble and starstruck. Wiona knew he was just being polite, but she still felt a little flutter of excitement.
