Wiona let out a sharp laugh, like Scott’s words were just noise she didn’t even need to acknowledge. She folded her arms, standing firm in front of Summer, her cold stare full of quiet contempt. It was enough to make a vein throb at Scott’s temple. Peter and the others stepped forward too, lining up behind Wiona, a silent wall of support that made her presence even stronger.
Scott narrowed his eyes, finally understanding the situation. This woman could actually command the Sullivan family’s people. And even more shocking, Summer was really daring to stand her ground. Clearly, Wiona was more than just some mistress at Conrad’s side.
Scott’s expression darkened. “Summer, what are you trying to do?”
Summer drew a breath and stepped forward. Wiona had already done so much for her. If she kept acting helpless and weak, how could she ever face her? So this time, when she looked at Scott, there was a steady determination in her eyes.
“I’m not coming over, Scott. What I want is simple. I want my son, and I want a divorce. Let’s finish what we started, and once it’s done, Wiona will let you leave Stonehill.”
The tension around Scott was suffocating. His fists clenched until his knuckles popped, and he let out a cold laugh.
“Summer, do you really think you’re in any position to bargain with me?”
Summer met his gaze without a single hint of fear. “I’m Leo’s mother. I gave birth to him, I raised him on my own, and he means everything to me. Why wouldn’t I have the right? Even if you think I have no say, Wiona does. She’s my friend, she’ll always have my back. And Sullivan Group will have hers. If you try to hurt me again, she will never let you get away with it. Honestly, you only have the chance to stand here and act all high and mighty, because I want to negotiate today. Give me back my son. Now!”
Wiona broke into applause. “That’s what I’m talking about! Summer, look at his face—he’s about to explode. This is the way. You have to fight back and show him you’re not someone to mess with.”
With Wiona in her corner, Summer felt her confidence soar. She locked eyes with Scott, her hatred for him burning brighter. She realized it was the first time she’d ever seen him at a loss like this, and it actually felt good. All those years, she’d been timid and let him push her around, always shrinking back and letting herself be manipulated. No wonder he’d never really respected her.
She looked at Scott again, her eyes hard as steel. “You really are disgusting, Scott. You think you have the upper hand just because you know how to manipulate Summer? If you don’t give Leo back today, Sullivan Group will help Summer hold a press conference tomorrow. The whole world will know Scott Tucker has a secret wife and a hidden child. Let’s see how the Tucker family handles the fallout, and let’s show everyone what kind of monster you really are.”
With Wiona’s support behind her, Summer straightened her back. Her voice was cold and clear as she shot back at Scott.
“Go ahead, try me. I came here today with no intention of backing down. Leo is my line in the sand, and divorce is the only way forward for us. Wiona is right. If you don’t agree, we’ll just wait. See you at the press conference tomorrow. Let’s see who loses more.”
Scott stared at Summer, as if he were seeing her for the very first time.
