Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 595

After she hung up, Summer turned to Cassian. “Dad, Wiona’s husband actually sounds like a pretty great guy.”

“He agreed right away. He said once Wiona has the babies, he’ll set it up so we can visit her and the little ones.”

“Sounds like she’s due any day now.”

“Dad, when we go, let’s bring a gift for the babies, okay?”

“Looks like it’s time for you to start thinking about what to give them.” Summer grinned at him.

Cassian laughed, a big, warm sound that filled the room. “This is wonderful news, really. I can’t just pick any old thing as a gift.”

“It has to be special, something with real meaning.”

“Summer, what do you think if I made something myself? Wouldn’t that be more memorable?”

Summer immediately agreed, nodding enthusiastically. “Wiona doesn’t seem like she needs anything money can buy these days. If she’s got everything, then we should focus on giving her something from the heart.”

“Your work is still well-respected, Dad, and what matters most is the thought behind it. The thought, you know?”

She kept repeating that word, making Cassian laugh even harder.

He gave her a knowing look. “So, what about you? What are you planning to give?”

That stumped Summer for a second. The hardest part was always figuring out something truly meaningful.

They shared a quiet understanding, not mentioning Bronwen at all. They both knew she’d been running herself ragged because of Wilson, and lately she’d even been spreading rumors to damage Wiona’s reputation. Cassian had made call after call, trying to set the record straight and stop the gossip, but strangely enough, the whole thing never really blew up. It was as if something, or someone, was quietly keeping it all under control. That was a relief for them both.

Time passed quickly, and soon Wiona’s pregnancy reached thirty-seven weeks.

Annette had actually wanted Wiona to deliver a week earlier, at thirty-six weeks, just to spare her from any more discomfort. It was tough watching her deal every day with pain in her hips and sleepless nights. Wiona’s belly was enormous, almost scary to look at, but the rest of her hadn’t changed much. The doctors said practically all the weight went to the babies. She never complained, but everyone could see this pregnancy was wearing her out. In those last two weeks, her legs and feet swelled up often.

Thankfully, Conrad was always there, taking care of her himself. Honestly, he was the textbook definition of a supportive husband and soon-to-be dad. Every day, right on schedule, he’d rub oils and creams on her belly, keep track of all her vitamins, and make sure she ate well. He’d walk with her, steadying her every step. He brought her meals, handed her water, and personally helped her get in and out of bed, whether it was nap time or bedtime. Conrad barely got any sleep himself, but he never once complained. He even gave her daily massages and spent his free time reading every parenting book he could get his hands on.

Wiona, seeing all this, felt cared for and content. She didn’t let any negative feelings build up. And so, little by little, they made it to thirty-seven weeks.
