Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 560

Conrad didn’t want to upset her, but he knew he had to be honest. “Wiona, the person who took care of Devin’s body worked for him.” His voice was steady and serious. “Devin’s power didn’t just disappear when he died. So you need to remember, wherever you go and whatever you do, you can’t afford to let your guard down.”

Wiona felt a chill race up her spine, goosebumps spreading across her arms. It was terrifying to realize that even though Devin was gone, his shadow was still hanging over them. How could they ever feel safe if his people were still out there, lurking in the dark?

“So, you haven’t figured out who they are?” she asked quietly.

Conrad hesitated. He didn’t want to lie. “I have some leads, but they’re hiding deep. It’ll take time and the right chance.”

She nodded, understanding that he had things under control. Relief washed over her. “Alright. I’ll be more careful from now on.”

There was a pause. Then Wiona remembered something and looked up. “Oh, Conrad, in a few days, my ex Jace and Kellen are getting married. They invited me. I’ve decided to go.”

She brought it up herself, and Conrad couldn’t help but feel pleased. His eyes lit up, just a little. Still, he couldn’t help himself. He let out a low, annoyed sound and his expression darkened. “Why call him your ex? Wiona, next time just say that bastard. Okay?”

Wiona tried not to laugh, but she rolled her eyes in her head. He really could be ridiculous sometimes, getting jealous over the tiniest things.

She didn’t answer, so Conrad tilted her chin up and kissed her, his touch possessive. “Come on. Say it.”

Wiona broke out into giggles. She held up her fingers, showing a tiny gap between them. “Babe, you know, you’re very possessive, right?”

Conrad’s throat tightened, his voice suddenly rough and low. His eyes flashed with a hungry, wild look. “What did you just call me?”

He’d made her say it before, during their private moments, but this was the first time she’d called him that on her own. The word echoed in his mind, making his heart feel soft and overheated.

“Wiona, say it again.”

She hadn’t even realized she’d said it. Color rushed to her cheeks, her face turning pink. “You must be hearing things. I didn’t say anything.”

She tried to make a quick getaway, one hand holding her back. Conrad caught up in two long strides and wrapped her up in his arms, holding her close. “Nice try. I heard you loud and clear.”

Wiona tried to brush him off. “Alright, alright, that bastard. Happy now?”

Conrad let out a laugh, amused. “Is that what I want right now? Just wait until we get back to our room.”
