LILY...
"Mr Wilson..." The waitress formally gritted him.
His eyes gazed at her once before setting on me. One hand Inserted in pocket, Theo walked toward us. His cold brown gaze was void. It always raised a doubt in me if he was the same person I knew once. How could a person change over a night? Still, the thought haunted me every night.
"What happened here?" He asked again.
My gaze lowered as I heard the waitress describing the situation... "And so, I wanted to confirm how Miss Maeve would like to pay." She ended and my head lowered more.
I could never pay. Even if I sell myself 24 hours a day, I could not! I am broken with no chance of repair.
"Alright..." He spoke. "Give us a moment. Once my meeting with her is done, you can take out your loss." He said, shaking me from inside. Probably, this is the end of me.
"Sure sir, please have a seat." She escorted us to the previous table and waiters cleared the mess I created there.
As soon as we were seated, she asked again, "What would you like to have sir?"
"Dark coffee for me." He stated and both eyes landed on me. "Uh-I... I am fine. Just a glass of water, please."
Once the waitress left, I heard, "You did not only attempt to murder Alyssa, even brought another mess over you? Last time I stopped Ruby from sending you to jail, what about now?"
"Do you know what would happen when they finally realise you're not able to repay the loss? You'll end up in prison and your grandma..." He shrugged, leaning back.
He didn't have to complete his sentence, I know the rest well enough.
My lips parted when the waitress brought his coffee. Theodore picked up the cup and took a sip of his dark coffee, which took me back into the past again,
*** "Gross!" Theo's face wrinkled as if he is in pain, staring at the woman at the next table.
I chuckled. "What happened now?"
"How could one even taste that bitter poison? Doesn't it ruin their taste bud? I could never!" He whined.
"Come on, Theo. It's just a dark coffee." I couldn't hold the smile back.
"Yeah, yeah, laugh how much you want. Even I would like my poison sweet and not that!" He shook his head and grabbed my hand, "I can't take this anymore, let's change the table!" ***
Yeah, he used to hate dark coffee exactly so much that he even switched sits because the woman beside us ordered dark coffee. After years, the same Theo is sipping in his dark coffee with no regret.
Then again, this Theo did not fit in the description anymore and I have more on my plate than thinking about his drastic change.
"Why did you want to see me?" I asked after a brief silence.
Taking another sip of his coffee, he put the cup down elegantly. His eyes fixated on me with a low sneer plastered on his face.
"You understand, you are in the danger, right?" His brow arched, half amused, half mockery. "But, you have a golden chance to get out of this mess. I can compensate for you on that condition."
His lips twitched into a sneer. "A give and take situation, Lily. You won't find the chance again. Consider this a golden chance of your life. You'll regret it once you decline. At least think about your last family member, fighting for her life."
Slowly, I looked up at him. And for the first time, I could see no beauty but a cold man before me. Previously, his appearance used to flutter my heart even after his coldness. However, I did not expect it to turn out so cruel.
I never expected this to happen but it took the place. No longer do I feel to explain something. For him, I am a bitch who tried to kill the love of his life. His blind trust in Alyssa would never let him believe the truth.
It's just a faint feeling that once he was the centre of my attention but suddenly the shadow just fell over.
For once, I wanted to deny it and walk out with my dignity. But could I? Once I stood up, the waitress would come near and demand compensation. Even if I accept my fate and go to jail, how would I manage money for Grandma?
What is her fault? That poor woman is suffering today because she had to waste her money on trash like me, who failed to do anything in return and let her suffer.
Falsely accused and Insult was the most used word in my life's dictionary. I guess, I could handle one more time until closing it at once. If that could save my grandma, I am willing to do it.
Inhaling a deep breath, I looked up at the cold man, waiting for my answer.
"Fine, I agree with your proposal." I agreed.
All the while unknown to a pair of eyes on us and capturing us in one frame...
