Chapter 1127 The Mentor
After the meeting, a few invited Lennon out for tea, but he turned them down right before Colin.

"It's clear what they're after."

After ending the fifth call, Lennon smirked as he poured Colin a cup of tea. "Ever since I disrupted your wedding, people think our relationship is on the rocks. They believe causing friction between us will make things difficult for you."

Colin nodded seriously. "They're not wrong. I feel the same way."

Previously, Colin had only heard rumors of Lennon's legendary business acumen. But during the recent meeting, he finally saw it in action.

Lennon's responses to the shareholders were impeccable, each pause perfectly timed, each answer spot on.

It was hard to believe that a man so precise and commanding at work couldn't emotionally protect his girlfriend.

Lost in thought, he found himself stealing a few more glances at Lennon.

"Enjoying the view?" Lennon asked, reclining in the leather chair with a faint smile.

Although Lennon now holds the title of vice president at the Gray Group, the company never had a vice president before, so they still needed to set up an office for him.

Lennon didn't mind at all. He had a desk and chair brought into Colin's office and made it his base of operations.

Perched at his desk, he eyed the figure in Damien's customary seat.

"You're wearing that confusion well. Almost had me convinced you were the real Damien," he remarked, a wry smile on his lips.

Colin's initial surprise was fleeting, swiftly replaced by a calm facade.

He chuckled awkwardly and said, "You once mentioned Damien's work competence surpassed yours?"

"I was battling a severe kidney ailment, clinging to a fifty percent chance of survival even after a transplant," Lennon revealed, the gravity of their shared history hanging in the air.

"The Belcourt family who took me in feared I wouldn't make it post-transplant, so they dropped the bombshell—I wasn't their flesh and blood—and left me to navigate the world alone," Lennon recounted, his voice tinged with resignation.

"Just when I was about to throw in the towel, Damien rolled into my life," he continued, the memory vivid in his mind's eye.

"He footed the bill for my transplant and bankrolled my education abroad," Lennon revealed, a note of gratitude lacing his words.

"Studying overseas wasn't just about books and lectures. Under Damien's tutelage, I learned the art of survival in a cutthroat world," Lennon concluded; his admiration for his mentor was evident in every syllable.

As Lennon reflected on those tumultuous years, a bittersweet smile danced upon his lips.

In that era of uncertainty, survival was his sole focus, and the presence of a steadfast friend like Damien was a beacon of light in the darkness.
