"What are you doing?" Susanna snapped. "Are you really going to give me a gastric bypass?"
"Are you actually listening to the garbage coming out of his mouth?" Hull retorted.
At that moment, Hull deeply regretted asking Mr. Quinn to transfer Barnaby to his team.
What kind of idiot had he taken on?
Back when the transfer happened, Ronald had explicitly warned him that Barnaby was incredibly obnoxious.
Ronald had even said that with Finley Yoder already around, there was no way he could tolerate a second loudmouth.
Hull realized he must have lost his mind that day.
He didn't know Finley very well, so he had figured, how annoying could one guy's mouth really be?
Now, he desperately wanted to ship Barnaby right back to Mr. Quinn.
"Then tell me, what did you mean?" Susanna pressed.
"I..." Hull started.
"Nothing to say?" she shot back. "Do you really think I eat too much?"
Her eyes welled with sudden, stinging tears. "You're filthy rich! Are you afraid I'm going to eat you into bankruptcy?"
Hull felt a headache coming on.
"No," he sighed.
He was never good at explaining things to begin with, and with Barnaby stirring the pot, it was even harder to find the right words.
He shot another lethal glare at Barnaby.
Finally realizing he had messed up, Barnaby shrank back, hovering by the door like a kicked puppy.
"Then what's the issue?" Susanna asked.
"I suspect you have a tumor," Hull said bluntly.
Susanna froze.
Barnaby and Silas exchanged stunned looks.
Hearing those words, the color drained from everyone's faces.
A tumor?
Panic gripped Susanna. "Wait, why would you think that?"
A tumor? How was that possible? "I haven't felt sick or anything!"
If someone had a tumor, wouldn't they feel terrible?
She felt perfectly fine. Hull declaring she had a tumor just didn't make any sense.
Barnaby blinked.
