Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 544

Charlotte was certain Evander was toying with her. She tore open the sealed envelope, but all she felt inside was a recording pen.

After confirming the envelope was empty, she pressed the play button, a little confused, and turned up the volume.

Instantly, the car filled with explicit, scandalous sounds. She froze for a second, her face flushing with embarrassment as she fumbled to turn it off.

In her haste, the pen slipped and fell under the seat.

As she bent down to retrieve it, she unexpectedly heard a woman's voice—a voice she recognized immediately as Hulda's. But what truly shocked her was the man's voice that followed. It was her Uncle Quincy!

The recording stopped abruptly as Charlotte picked up the pen. The lewd sounds from before were nothing compared to this bombshell: the secret affair between Hulda and Quincy.

Evander chuckled, unable to hold it in. "You were the one who wanted to listen."

He remained perfectly composed, completely unfazed by the recording.

"You knew all along?" Charlotte frowned.

"And you think I'm the only one?" He glanced at her, raising an eyebrow. "Caleb was the first to find out. I'm sure he told Wesley, too."

Charlotte was stunned.

She knew her uncle Caleb, was the most well-connected member of the Rayburn family. He usually kept a low profile, but she never imagined he was aware of a secret this explosive.

If he hadn't exposed them, he must have had his reasons. But her brother knew, too, and he hadn't told their father or Mr. Rayburn…

"So, Kate died because of this secret. And my brother knew about it…"

"He got lucky," Evander said, continuing to drive. "If it weren't for a bit of luck, he would've been done for that day."
