Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 543

Dr. Wally paused for a moment, then smiled. “Oh, so you’re her niece, Charlotte. Of course. Please, follow me.”

Charlotte followed her to the VIP storage room. Kate’s items were in safe number 29, and only Dr. Wally knew the combination.

Dr. Wally entered the code, and the safe clicked open. Inside was a sealed document.

“She left this when she came for a laser treatment the day before yesterday,” the doctor explained. “She specifically instructed me to only release it to a family member. I have no idea what’s inside, of course. We respect our clients’ privacy.”

Charlotte placed the file in her bag. “Thank you so much for your trouble.”

“Not at all.”

With the document secured, Charlotte took the elevator down. As she stepped out into the lobby, however, she ran right into Quincy walking in.

She froze, her surprise evident on her face. The last thing she expected was to see him here, and a sense of unease washed over her.

Quincy saw her too.

Taking a deep breath, Charlotte quickly composed herself and greeted him. “Uncle Quincy.”

“What are you doing here?” Quincy’s tone was less a question and more an interrogation.

“I’m here to see a friend,” she said with a small smile. “Do you come to the salon often, Uncle Quincy?”

“That’s none of your business.”

Quincy brushed past her. Just as Charlotte was about to breathe a sigh of relief, he spoke again. “Wait.”

Her spine stiffened. She turned to face him. “Is there something else?”

Quincy stared at her, his eyes filled with suspicion. “Which friend are you here to see?”

Charlotte’s expression faltered as she scrambled to come up with a name. Just then, a familiar voice called out from behind her. “Charlotte!”

Lilith rushed over and linked her arm through Charlotte’s. “Were you waiting for me?”

Charlotte couldn’t believe Lilith’s perfect timing. “This is the friend I was telling you about,” she said to Quincy, then turned to Lilith. “This is my Uncle Quincy.”

“Hello, sir,” Lilith said politely.

Quincy just grunted and stepped into the elevator without another word.

“Your uncle seems a bit grumpy,” Lilith whispered.
