Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 513

Evander caught her instantly, pulling her into a tight embrace as the veins on the back of his hands bulged.

His gaze swept over the unconscious Tobias, his eyes turning glacially cold. He lifted Charlotte into his arms and gave a curt order to the man behind him. "Clean this up."

He carried her back to the car. Her body was trembling slightly, whether from fear, exhaustion, or some other unnameable emotion.

He frowned, quickly shrugging off his jacket and draping it over her shoulders. His fingers brushed against her hand, and its icy temperature sent a chill through him. A flash of cold fury crossed his eyes, but it softened the moment he looked down at her. "I'm getting you out of here."

Suddenly, Charlotte gripped his sleeve tightly, as if it were a lifeline. "I… I don't feel right."

He tensed immediately. "We're going to the hospital."

"No…" Her grip on his sleeve tightened. She felt freezing cold, yet a strange heat was building inside her, and she desperately craved warmth.

Leaning against him only intensified the bizarre sensation of fire and ice, as if a million ants were crawling under her skin—an unbearable, relentless itch.

The moment she moved closer and whispered in his ear, Evander's body went rigid. In stark contrast to her cold skin, the breath that brushed against his ear was searing hot.

He wasn't a fool. It was obvious she'd been drugged.

For a moment, all he wanted was to storm back inside and tear that bastard limb from limb.

Sensing her restlessness, Evander could only hold her tighter. "Charlotte, we're going to the hospital first."

If this continued, he wasn't sure he could hold himself back.

"No." Charlotte grabbed the collar of his shirt and swung her leg over, straddling him. The positions were instantly reversed, and she was now looking down at him. "You're the antidote. Give it to me."

Evander's gaze locked with hers, his voice raspy. "Are you sure about this?"

"You wouldn't dare—!"

Before she could finish, his lips crashed down on hers. With what little strength she had, she ripped off his mask and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer.
