Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 451

The crowd of onlookers dispersed, and Gentry Moore, seeing no reason to linger, clapped Judd Carstairs on the shoulder before leaving as well.

In the ensuing silence, Charlotte Sterling slowly came back to her senses. She never imagined Judd would end the spectacle this way, completely disregarding his own reputation. After all, publicly admitting his feelings for a married woman would surely invite moral condemnation.

“Professor Carstairs, you really didn't have to go that far…”

Judd turned to her, his rigid expression softening slightly. “I started this, so it’s my responsibility to clean up the mess. You have nothing to feel guilty about.”

Before Charlotte could reply, he walked past her and left.

Charlotte watched him go, her emotions a tangled mess.

Meanwhile, Natalie reported the events at the hospital to Evander Howard. Evander paused, the magazine in his hands forgotten. When he heard that Charlotte had said she and Judd could only be friends even if she were divorced, the icy look in his eyes thawed slightly.

He closed the magazine. “Since this involves someone close to Mrs. Carstairs, let’s leave the matter in her hands.”

“Leave it to Mrs. Carstairs? Wouldn’t that just give Mr. Carstairs an opportunity?” Natalie asked, confused. Evander’s relationship with his wife was still strained, with no progress in sight. Shouldn’t he seize this chance to help and win some favor?

Evander’s expression was serious. “He won’t.”

Did he mean Mr. Carstairs wouldn’t get an opportunity, or that he wouldn’t *allow* him one?

Natalie decided not to press the matter.

Daphne soon learned of the incident, and her face darkened. “Have Vickie and Derrick lost their minds?”
