Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 449

Vickie clenched her phone, her mind racing with bitterness and resentment. An idea began to form. She remembered Mrs. Carstairs's former driver—the one she had hired to help Tricia frame Charlotte. He had been fired after the incident, but he had kept his mouth shut because she had paid him well. By now, that money was probably long gone. A grim smile spread across her face.

The next day at lunch, Charlotte and Vera noticed that everyone in the cafeteria seemed to be staring at them.

"Are they looking at us?" Vera whispered.

Charlotte stirred her rice with her fork and shrugged. "Looks like it. Let's just eat."

"Is it true? Is Dr. Sterling really married?" a voice from a nearby table drifted over.

Charlotte's hand froze.

"Yeah, and she's having an affair with Dr. Carstairs. Does her husband know?"

"Who knows? Maybe she gets a thrill out of cheating."

"Hey, you—" Vera started to get up, but Charlotte pulled her back down. Vera shot a glare at the gossiping nurses and sat back down. "They don't know anything! They just love to talk."

"Don't bother," Charlotte said, pausing for a beat before adding with a small smile, "People who gossip behind your back don't need to use their brains."

Vera snorted with laughter.

Chapter 449 2

As expected, the woman dodged the question. "Stop twisting my words! My husband was fired because of you and Mr. Carstairs! You're a married woman, yet you have no shame, no decency! You're a disgrace to all women!"

*No decency? When a married man is carrying on with his old flame, does anyone ever question his morals?*

Chapter 449 3

Just then, Gentry and Judd arrived, just in time for Judd to hear her last words.
