Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 448

Seeing her hesitation, Marge didn't press. "Don't force yourself. Just follow your heart."

Charlotte smiled and changed the subject. Before Marge left, they exchanged contact information. When Charlotte got back to her office, Gentry was waiting for her, demanding to know what she and Marge had talked about.

"Why do you care so much?" Charlotte teased.

Gentry crossed his arms. "Did she say something to you?"

"She did," Charlotte said, pretending to think. "She told me everything, including…"

"Including what?"

"That she almost became your aunt-in-law."

Gentry's face fell. "My uncle has had more girlfriends than I can count. I don't believe for a second that she ever truly loved him!"

"You have a crush on her, don't you?" Charlotte asked, a knowing smile on her face.

"I…" Gentry stammered, then narrowed his eyes at her. "If you can see that I have a crush on her, how can you not see that Professor Carstairs has a thing for you?"

Charlotte's smile vanished. She shoved a file into his hands. "At least I know my place. Take this to the records department."

"Hey, you can't just order me around—"

"If you don't, I'll tell Marge you were flirting with the nurses at the front desk."

Gentry's eyes widened in outrage. "You… you're a cunning, treacherous woman, Dr. Sterling!"

"Thank you for the compliment," she said sweetly.

Gentry stormed out with the file. Later, he went to complain to Judd, who simply closed the patient chart he was reading. "You let her get a hold of your weakness. Who's to blame for that?"

Charlotte stared at him, stunned into silence.

Just then, Judd stepped closer and gently poked her on the forehead. "Cat got your tongue?"

Chapter 448 2

Charlotte took a step back, putting some distance between them. Forgetting why she had even come to the breakroom, she muttered, "I should go."

She practically fled. Judd watched her go, a small, amused smile on his face.

The nurse, however, was ecstatic. She immediately posted about what she had seen in a private group chat. The gossip spread like wildfire, eventually reaching Vickie.
