“Sure, but I’m warning you—don’t install any surveillance equipment or tracking devices in it. We’ll bring a detector. If we find anything suspicious, Rosalie Young is dead. Got that?”
“Got it. We will be careful, please don’t act rashly. Is Rose safe right now? Let me hear her voice.”
“She’s great. Don’t worry.”
“How can I be assured with your words? I want to hear her voice with my own ears. Do you still want the money? Five million in cold hard cash. That’s something you won’t be able to finish spending in one lifetime.”
“Fine. Wait!”
Rosalie was almost dozing off when someone pulled her hard. “Your family wants to speak to you. Tell them you’re very safe.”
The man put the phone to Rosalie’s ear and Sebastian blurted out, “Rose, how are you?”
“Seb? I’m fine, don’t worry. I’ll be home very soon.”
The abductor realized that something was wrong. “Seb? Damn it, what’s going on? Didn’t you say that it’s your uncle? Why did your voice change?”
Christopher was worried that the abductor would kill Rosalie and said at once, “We’re all family. Five million isn’t a small sum, and I need another person to help me prepare the money. But don’t worry, no one called the police. We just want Rosalie to come back unharmed.”
“Alright. As I said earlier, once I notice that you’re playing tricks, I’ll have my men have their fun with her before cutting off all her limbs!”
Sebastian was about to scream in anger, but Christopher gave him a look to signal him to keep quiet.
Sebastian realized how rash he was and how it could potentially ruin things for them. He bit his tongue and stopped himself from speaking.
Christopher’s face turned cold. “Fine. Call the abductors and yell at him as much as you want. Tell him that you want to tear them into pieces. They’ll get so angry over your words, they’ll hurt Rosalie. Go on, call him!”
Sebastian panted heavily, his chest heaving. After he calmed down, he lowered his head and said, “I’m sorry. I was being rash.”
Rosalie’s safety was of utmost importance. Nothing else mattered at this point.
“Seb, I know you’re worried about Rose. I wouldn’t let anything happen to her for your sake. Don’t worry, I’ll do everything I can.”
Sebastian nodded, almost stumbling in his footsteps. “Uncle, I can’t afford for anything to happen to her, or I wouldn’t be able to live.”
Christopher hugged Sebastian, and patted his back. His eyes brimming with resolve, he said, “I promise you that she’ll be fine. She’s family.”
