Theodore's brows knitted tighter as he went on reading the information about Yerick. Doubt flashed past his eyes.
"Why is he targeting us? Does he bear a grudge against us?"
"Why would he be like this if not over a grudge?" Sebastian scoffed. "Theodore, your family is a scourge. You even got Rose implicated."
"Shut up!" Theodore yelled furiously. "Sebastian, now that Rose's background has come to light, we know that she's your cousin. Do you dare harbor any intentions about her? You no longer have any right to fight for her."
Sebastian clenched his fists. "You said it yourself, she's my cousin and I'm considered her brother, a kin of hers. I might not have the right to be with her, but more so than the two of you, it's absolutely in my place to protect her."
"Enough!" Christopher roared. "Now's not the time to be fighting. It's time to get serious. I came to the hospital to watch over Syd. Your mom must be transferred to a safe place that guarantees her protection right away."
Just then, a doctor rushed over. "Mr. Spencer, things aren't looking good. Your mom is in critical condition and she's been sent to the emergency room."
All of them rushed to the emergency room right away.
Sydney was in a terrible condition. Many medical staff came out many times during the operation to update them about the situation.
Sydney was displaying many suspicious symptoms, but the doctors couldn't figure out the root cause and thus couldn't prescribe accurate treatment. She might lose her life if they were to administer the wrong treatment, so before they managed to identify the root cause, they had to take time to analyze the situation.
However, they knew that Sydney couldn't afford to wait too long.
Christopher almost lost his footing, his pale face etched with worry.
"Uncle," Sebastian said, reaching out to hold him. "Are you alright? You don't look too good. Why don't you go home and get some rest?"
"I'm fine," Christopher said, standing up and shaking free of Sebastian's hold.
Just then, a bodyguard ran over and handed his phone to Theodore.
"Mr. Spencer, it's a call from Yerick Zeller."
His name made Christopher immediately say, "Switch the call to loudspeaker mode."
"What do you want then? Speak!"
"Come here alone to see me and don't bring anyone with you. I'll then tell you what treatment to use on Sydney Harper. Otherwise, she won't last in the operating theatre for more than half an hour."
"I promise to go see you, but how will I do that if you don't give me your address?"
"Walk out of the hospital alone and walk according to my instructions. Remember, you must be alone. I'll be watching you every moment. If I realize someone is following you or if you have any tricks up your sleeves, your mom will be doomed. Your dad and Rosalie are both in my hands, too. Remember not to play tricks with me."
"Okay, I promise you that. But how will I know whether you'll save my mom after I do as you say?"
"Do you have a choice?" Yerick asked. "Do you not want to save your dad and Rosalie? I'm running out of patience here."
Theodore looked up at the door of the operating theatre and said, "Fine, I promise you. I'm leaving the hospital right now."
Just then, Yerick said, "You have the call on loudspeaker mode, right? Just as well. All of you, listen up. None of you are to play any tricks, I'm watching every single one of you. Sebastian Carter, Justin Lynch, Christopher Jackson, don't take me for a fool or you'll live to regret it."
