“What happened girl?” Kendra asked when we were now in her condo.
“I told you we were stuck in that freaking elevator.” I snarled back as I started to put all the pancakes inside my mouth.
“Is is it a coincidence that it was Achi? Haven’t you noticed him when you get inside?” She continously asked.
“Can you please stop asking?” I shot back frowning at her irritably.
“Fine, but you know I think it’s a sign.” She added.
“Shut the f*ck up!”
“It’s a sign that you two were destiny!” She laugh before I throw a pillow at her and she went outside.
“She talking nonsense isn’t she?” Rolling my eyes from the door she left open, I got my phone from the table and dialed Trinity’s number.
“Trinity?”
“Yes, baby?”
“Yuck stops it, can you go here?” I asked.
“Where are you?” She asked back.
“Here in Kendra’s condo.”
“Oh, I have some things to do. Call you later baby bye.”
My forehead automatically creased, what’s her problem? But my attention was suddenly caught by an unregistered number calling this time.
“Hello?”
“Jada it’s me, Martini.”
“Where the f*ck did you get my number?” I asked.
“I have my connections.” He chuckled.
“Connections my ass. So what do you want?”
“Let’s have a practice today, are you free?”
“My schedule is full today.”
I lied even though I have the rest of the day to practice.
“Oh, I see. I’m just here if you change your mind, got to go.” He replied before ending the call.
Sighing in disbelief, I should have gone to the training field instead. What’s happening to me? I felt like I don’t want to move and just lie here on the sofa for the rest of my life, however, I wanted to be productive today. Productive? Seriously? Jada Turner will do something beneficial today? That’s more impossible than pigs to be able to fly.
Shooking at my thoughts, I let my body fall on the sofa and shut my eyes off. I’ll just sleep, in that way maybe if I wake up, I’ll get back to my senses.
But after a couple of seconds, I opened my eyes when I remembered the Bugatti. Damn, am I too occupied to completely lash it out of my thoughts?
I quickly jump and tried to control the excitement that slowly fills me again. I wore something comfortable today because I don’t want to repeat the history.
When I am in the lobby of the condo on the ground floor, my eyes slowly widened to see the familiar build of a man sitting prettily on the corner.
F*ck what should I do? What is dad doing here? He’ll surely notice me because there’s no other way. Calming myself, I let the people that crossing drag me with them so he won’t notice easily. But I’m wrong.
“Jada.” His baritone voice echoed in the lobby making the people look at him and then at me.
“Sit here.” He uttered full of authority and tapped the vacant seat next to him.
I’m f*ck up.
“Don’t make me tell it twice.” He warned giving me no choice but to obey him.
The last time he made me get out of my friends’ house after not going home and when I didn’t move, he drag me out of it and let his guards carry me and put me inside the car, in front of my friends.
When I sat on the seat across from him, the cold air and silence embraced us.
“The Colemans were the most influential and powerful people in the country Jada.” He started.
Seems like I know where this conversation will head to.
“Look, Dad...”
“Do not put our company’s stake at risk Jada.” He added and look at me piercingly.
“Don’t be too selfish, if you didn’t voluntarily give yourself to him in a period he gave us. I will be the one to do that, by hook or by crook.”
I look at him in disbelief.
“And you think I’m still the selfish one here? Isn’t it too much dad? We were talking about my future here dad!” I wasn’t able to control myself and shouted. I don’t give a damn if people were watching us now.
“I can’t believe that you’re telling me all of this, tell me dad am I your daughter?”
“Because if I am, I am sure no matter how stubborn I am, you should’ve protected me.”
I blurt out. He remain fierce and didn’t answer my question.
“I’m warning you, Jada, don’t run to the consequences you made for yourself. Grow up and fix the trouble you put yourself into and don’t be such an egocentric one, think of us, your family.”
“I wonder who’s the car driving that Bugatti.” Martini breaks the silence as we watch the race.
I became interested as well.
“I’ve never seen that Bugatti before in the racing field. Is he a new racer?” Martini added and asked. I shrugged. I don’t have an idea too.
That Bugatti was with the same brand as what I am requesting Kendra, and I’m sure it’s the limited edition one, and he’s not just the typical racer we used to spend time with. I can sense the powerful aura coming from the Bugatti, not because of what car model it is but rather the person behind that wheel.
I felt shivers run down my spine when I noticed what he was doing. He was like a lion having fun of a small rat and making Lexus think that he has a chance of winning. He was teasing the car in front of him, and if I can just see Lexus's face now, I’ll surely laugh at him.
“He seemed like a pro with the way he pilots the wheel.” I didn’t help myself but to speak.
“Yeah, he does.”
“And I can’t wait to see who he was,” Martini added.
“What if he attends the race?” Martini asked.
“What?”
“You won’t be able to make it to the final level.” He makes fun of and mocks me.
“You’re ridiculous,” I replied, yeah indeed he seemed like a pro, but that Bugatti has the same capabilities as mine. We will only dwell on skills if we’ll face the racing track.
“But no joke Jada, he seemed more terrifying than the Russian racers coming.”
After saying that our jaws were left open as amusement fills us when the Bugatti drifted when they were nearing the finish line so fast that we almost missed seeing it making him lead and won.
“Woah that’s incredible. I’m speechless.”
I frowned at him.
“No you’re not speechless Martini, you still have words to say.” I shot back as my gaze automatically spin at him.
“Funny Jada, very funny.”
Our attention was taken by the Bugatti when it stop in front of us.
“What does he want?” Martini asked.
“Seems like he’s warning us," I replied.
"But I'm not afraid of him, he was making the upcoming race a bit more interesting," I added before flashing a wide grin.
I can't wait to see who he was.
