Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 357

Janice had spoken with such gravity that Johnson couldn’t possibly ignore her warning.

It was only after her father assured her he’d take care of erasing every trace of what had happened before that she finally ended the call.

Janice couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was watching her. When she looked up, she spotted a well-dressed woman standing at the top of the stairs on the second floor.

Every inch of the woman radiated luxury—even the earrings she wore probably cost a small fortune.

Janice froze for a moment, just about to leave, when the woman on the steps spoke in a cool, measured voice.

“I heard everything you just said on the phone.”

Janice’s expression stiffened, but she quickly regained her composure.

“And what exactly did you hear, ma’am?”

Viola looked down at Janice from her perch on the stairs, eyes filled with arrogance and disdain.

“I heard all of it. And I know Cynthia.”

Janice had thought that even if a stranger overheard her, it wouldn’t matter much. She hadn’t expected this woman to actually know Cynthia.

Her unease and confusion were written all over her face, and Viola didn’t miss a single detail.

Viola descended the stairs at a deliberate pace.

She’d been about to leave herself, but when she caught Cynthia and Dominic’s names, she’d lingered, listening just long enough to get a sense of the situation.

Still, she wanted to be sure.

“Benedict—who is he?” Viola asked. “Is he Cynthia’s boyfriend here in Cloudcrest City?”

Janice had always been good at reading people. From Viola’s expression, she could tell this woman wasn’t her enemy—or if she was, she was at least Cynthia’s enemy too.

“That’s right. They’ve been together for seven years.”

Viola’s eyes widened. “Seven years?”

“So you mean…they’re still together?”

Dominic didn’t say a single word to her until the car stopped.

She kept her silence as well.

Galen parked in the garage.

Dominic was the first to get out, striding away without a backward glance.

Cynthia watched his retreating figure with a sigh of resignation.

As she got out, Galen leaned in and whispered, “Miss Tremaine, try to cheer him up. He’s actually easy to win over.”

Cynthia mumbled an “okay” and stepped out of the car.

By the time she straightened up, Dominic was already in the elevator.

Cynthia hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath and walked over. When she reached the elevator, she saw that the doors were still open.
