Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 352

People rushed to break up the fight, some holding Benedict back, others just standing by and watching the spectacle unfold.

It was quite the scene.

Feeling tired from standing, Cynthia nonchalantly pulled out a chair and sat down. Noticing the person next to her still on their feet, she leaned over and spoke in a soft voice.

“Aren’t your feet sore standing like that? Have a seat—watch the show. It’s honestly more entertaining than a play.”

The person beside her could only stare.

How could she seem so calm, like a total outsider, in the middle of all this chaos?

The authorities arrived to find the situation just as unruly.

As soon as they walked in, they started pulling people apart.

Janice’s mascara was streaked down her face from crying, but she didn’t dare hide in Benedict’s arms. Instead, she turned to the officers, sniffling, and insisted she wanted to be examined for injuries.

Giselle chimed in, demanding a medical check for herself, her loud protests giving the officer taking statements a splitting headache.

It took a while for order to return. Just as things settled, Giselle’s head lolled to the side—probably from the pain—and she fainted right there.

An ambulance arrived and whisked her away.

Once they’d gotten the gist of what had happened, one of the officers called out to the crowd, “Who called us?”

Cynthia, still sitting primly in her chair, raised her hand.

“That was me.”

The officer came over to get her account. At that moment, the class president stepped forward, speaking in a low, steady voice.

“You can talk to me too—I was a witness. Plus, I organized this gathering, so I should take responsibility since something happened on my watch.”

The officer nodded, took down her number, and told her to keep her phone on in case they needed to follow up. Then they led Benedict and Janice away.

The moment the three main players left, the room buzzed with gossip.

“What’s going on with Benedict and Janice? Do you think they’re actually together?”

“Janice looked terrified just now—she went completely pale.”

A few people tried to coax Cynthia into drinking, but he deftly deflected them all.

When the meal ended, someone suggested moving on to a karaoke bar for another round.

But Cynthia remembered her promise to meet Dominic. Without hesitation, she declined.

“You all go on and have fun. I have something to take care of, so I’ll head out first. Enjoy yourselves.”

Most people had had a few drinks by then, so their words came out a little careless.

“Cynthia, you’re just as boring as you were in high school. Such a buzzkill. No wonder Benedict cheated.”

The one who spoke was a close friend of Janice’s, and her words brought an awkward silence to the table.

Cynthia had always sensed a subtle hostility from this classmate, even back in high school. Only today, while quietly watching the drama unfold, did she finally catch the glint of animosity in her eyes.

Cynthia’s reply was delivered with a sweet, unbothered smile, as if she were offering genuine advice.

“If you’re so much fun, maybe you should put yourself forward as Benedict’s backup option. He might really go for that.”
