Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 351

No one ever wants blood on their hands. Getting involved in a situation like this is nothing but trouble, and afterward, you’re forced to cooperate with endless investigations.

Better to distance yourself while you still can.

No one tried to stop Cynthia as she calmly took out her phone, dialed 911, and then called for an ambulance.

After giving the dispatcher the address and the room number, Cynthia put her phone away and sat back down, composed as ever.

It was only then that Benedict snapped out of his daze, staring at Cynthia in disbelief.

“Cynthia, you called the cops on me?”

He looked genuinely hurt.

But Cynthia’s expression was cool, unmoved by his wounded look.

“I just don’t want to get caught up in all this. Witnessing a criminal case means hours wasted on police interviews and paperwork, and frankly, my time is too valuable for that.”

Around them, others nodded in agreement.

“Yeah, Benedict, no matter what happened, she did spend time with you. Did you really have to go that far?”

“If you didn’t want to cheat, she couldn’t have tied you to the bed, could she?”

“Exactly! If you got so rough, maybe what she says is true?”

The room buzzed with whispers, the truth almost spilled out for all to see.

Janice drew a shaky breath, her face paling for an instant.

But before the silence could settle, one of Janice’s close friends jumped in to defend her.

“Come on, Janice would never hook up with Benedict. She and Cynthia are close, and Janice was the one who set Cynthia and Benedict up in the first place, remember?”

A hush fell. That did ring a bell.

Janice, her face drained of color, looked up at Cynthia, eyes swimming with tears.

“Cynthia, do you believe her? Do you really think there’s something between me and Benedict?”

“People always get found out eventually. Benedict, you’re just a coward who can’t own up to what you’ve done.”

Benedict was seething, struggling against the hands restraining him.

No one wanted things to spiral even further out of control.

Janice stormed over to Giselle, bent down, and slapped her hard across the face.

“You lunatic! You drag my name through the mud just because you can’t face what you’ve done! Benedict and I are just friends. Not everyone is as twisted as you!”

“You think everyone’s willing to throw themselves at someone for a taste of luxury? Not me!”

“We’re nothing alike!”

Janice hoped Giselle would understand the warning in her eyes, but Giselle wasn’t listening. Instead, she lunged, grabbing a fistful of Janice’s hair and refusing to let go, no matter who tried to pry her off.

Janice had already lost a chunk of her hair earlier. Now, as Giselle yanked again, it felt as if her scalp would be torn off at the roots.
