Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 340

Cynthia had already launched the game and was waiting, idly sharing the room code with Dominic as she responded with a distracted, “Yeah.”

Dominic joined the lobby. Once he was ready, Cynthia hit start.

While they waited for teammates to match, Dominic tapped into Cynthia’s profile and scrolled through her game history.

It showed that her last match was the one they’d played together—not a single game since.

So she hadn’t been keeping herself busy; she’d just been sitting quietly on the couch, waiting for him.

Dominic glanced sideways at her.

Feeling his gaze, Cynthia didn’t look up. She kept her attention locked on her phone, keeping her eyes glued to the screen.

But Dominic’s presence was impossible to ignore. The subtle, clean scent he carried kept sneaking into her awareness, throwing off her concentration. She kept fumbling with the controls, making mistakes she’d never make under normal circumstances.

At this rank, her skills should’ve made the match a breeze.

Instead, the game dragged on for twenty long minutes.

Their opponents were stubborn and refused to surrender.

They still won in the end, and Cynthia’s stats were positive, but her deaths that game were higher than every other match she’d played recently.

Dominic glanced at her again, his tone casual. “Off your game today?”

Cynthia shook her head immediately. “Nope.”

She pressed start for another round.

Dominic shifted a little closer.

Cynthia could feel him now, right beside her. Her heart hammered in her chest, completely out of control.

Just sitting next to him had been distracting enough. Now that he’d moved even closer, her mind kept conjuring up images that belonged in dreams, not reality.

She tried to ignore it, but her heart threatened to beat right out of her chest.

Cynthia looked at the sofa—now barely distinguishable from a bed—and pulled a strained smile.

Dominic had already stretched out on one side, propping his head up with one hand as he looked at her.

Cynthia hesitated. “You know, suddenly I’m fine sitting. No problem at all.”

Dominic didn’t move, just lounged there, grinning up at her. “Then let’s keep going.”

Cynthia forced herself to sit back down, nerves jangling.

Dominic continued to sprawl at her side, playing.

He kept dying in the game, and every time it happened, he’d lean over, bracing his arm behind her on the couch cushion to watch her screen.

Cynthia was acutely aware of his arm, as if he’d wrapped her up in an embrace.

Her heart raced even faster, and her cheeks burned uncontrollably.
