Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 333

VistaSphere Group’s project was nearly wrapped up, and Cynthia figured her days in Cloudcrest City were numbered. She didn’t bother packing much—just her everyday essentials and a few professional outfits, barely enough to fill a single suitcase. With a soft click, she zipped it up and wheeled it out of her bedroom.

Stepping into the yard, Cynthia spotted Dominic deep in conversation with Galen. The two men stood beneath the dappled shade, their heads bent together as they mapped out plans for the property.

Cynthia’s brows drew together in mild confusion. She approached at a leisurely pace, her tone casual as she spoke.

“What are you two discussing?”

She’d only caught snippets of their conversation earlier—something about a water system.

Galen noticed her first, a warm, fatherly smile lighting up his face. He strode over and reached for her suitcase, his voice gentle as he explained,

“Mr. Hawthorne was just saying that, since you might not be in Cloudcrest City much longer, he wants to install a remote irrigation system here in the yard. That way, even if you’re away, you’ll still be able to water your plants and flowers with just a tap on your phone.”

Cynthia glanced at Dominic, a flicker of surprise and something softer passing through her eyes.

“That really isn’t necessary,” she said, trying to sound matter-of-fact. “When I’m gone, I can just pay the neighbor to water the plants for me.”

Dominic’s reply was cool and to the point.

“Why trouble someone else when a simple system can take care of it? Besides, if you can pay someone, what’s to stop someone else from doing the same?”

Cynthia dropped her gaze, lashes fluttering.

Dominic continued,

“Give Galen your spare key later. He’ll arrange for someone to come install the system.”

Cynthia nodded, quietly.

“Alright. I’ll transfer the payment to Galen myself.”

Dominic shot her a sidelong glance, his tone low.

“Suit yourself.”

With that, he strode toward the gate. Cynthia followed, rolling her suitcase behind her.

Galen had already placed her luggage neatly by the car and now stood at the passenger door, waiting for them.

After locking the front door behind her, Cynthia turned to find Dominic waiting patiently nearby. Just then, Marion came walking up from the garden, dirt on her boots and a basket in hand. Her eyes landed on Dominic, and she paused mid-step, openly sizing him up, momentarily forgetting to greet Cynthia.

Cynthia noticed the curious look and quickly called out,

“That girl’s really got it good—her boyfriends just keep getting more and more handsome.”

Cynthia blushed, hurriedly pressing the button to roll up the window. She glanced over at Dominic, silently praying he hadn’t heard Marion’s comment.

But Dominic caught her look and said, voice dry and even,

“Even the farmers around here have better taste than you.”

Cynthia forced a laugh, “Right, right, I was blind before.”

He gave her a sideways glance, lips barely curving in the faintest smile,

“Not completely blind, thankfully. You’re still salvageable.”

Cynthia could only stare at him, lost for words.

When Galen finally pulled the car into the parking garage at Dominic’s building, Cynthia realized with a start that they hadn’t gone to a hotel.

“I thought we were going to a hotel?” she asked, turning to Dominic, her confusion plain.
