Called Off the Wedding, Left Him Bankrupt novel Chapter 310

She immediately looked like someone caught red-handed, her eyes wide as she replayed the video she’d just recorded, laughing at herself.

Garry shot her a wary glance, leaned in, and muttered under his breath, “What’s so funny? Your smile’s all crooked.”

Was this girl secretly dating someone behind their backs?

But when he caught a glimpse of the video footage, Garry raised an eyebrow. He had to admit, Cynthia and Dominic looked pretty perfect together. He was all sharp angles and striking features, while she was soft and gentle—total opposites, but somehow a perfect match.

Garry chuckled softly and said, “Send that to him—might as well make him pay for it.”

Jocelyn clicked her tongue. “A memory like this? You can’t just cash in right away. You have to wait for the perfect moment. Only squeezing him for a one-time payment would be way too shallow.”

Garry burst out laughing. “No wonder Mom and Dad didn’t stop you when you decided to go into recruiting. You were born to be a middleman.”

She really was—always ready to swoop in and take advantage of any opportunity.

As the party wound down, it was nearly midnight. At first, everyone was playing games, but as the night wore on, Seymour started drinking even when he wasn’t losing. It was obvious to everyone he was getting tipsy.

Garry had a pretty good idea what was on Seymour’s mind. Things with Vicky had gotten complicated, and now Seymour probably regretted how it all turned out. That’s human nature—always longing for what you can’t have, and then losing interest once it’s yours.

He’d been the first to notice something was off between Seymour and Vicky, had even warned Seymour not to mess things up. But in the end, it was Seymour’s own choice, and now he was stuck in a situation where he and Vicky would just end up hurting each other.

What was the point?

Garry thought Seymour was hopelessly confused when it came to relationships. Maybe it ran in the Raynes family. His own father had more than a few women on the side. But Juliet was never the type to be pushed around. Seymour wanted the kind of domestic bliss his father claimed to have, but honestly, there was no way that would ever work.

Vicky suddenly reached over and snatched the glass from Seymour’s hand, smiling as she said, “Hey, Sey, maybe slow down a bit.”

Garry frowned and shot her a warning look.

Jocelyn finally mumbled, “Oh, right…”

She’d wanted to stay and watch the drama unfold. After all, it was only the first day of their engagement, and the couple was already fighting—how entertaining was that?

But clearly, her brother and the others had no intention of sticking around to play peacemakers.

Reluctantly, Jocelyn let Garry lead her out.

Once Garry and Dominic left, the rest of the guests started to say their goodbyes as well. Miranda hurried out of the lounge, catching sight of Dominic carrying Cynthia away. She called out, “Dominic, my driver’s out sick, and our places are on the same route. I’m catching a ride with you.”

It wasn’t a question—just a simple, matter-of-fact statement.
