She roared in anger, “Nathan, did you really not get a single penny of Wendy's fortune? I waited for you for so long, all to get my hands on her assets, and now we're saddled with debt instead!”
Sophia's resentment reached its peak.
To wait for over two decades only for it all to come to nothing was infuriating.
She had grown accustomed to the luxurious life Wendy's money provided. She couldn't go back to living poorly.
Her words grated on Nathan’s already frayed nerves.
He glared at Sophia. Couldn’t she see how unwell he was? If it had been Wendy, she would have been worried sick at the first sign of a sigh from him.
But Sophia only has eyes for money.
“Sophia, I'm not in the mood today. Why are you bringing that up? Do you want to pay off those debts? Can you pay that? I still have a small company, and with my son's company, we’ll be fine. What are you worried about?”
“Even if there was anything left of Wendy's parents' fortune, I couldn't get it. Those two crafty old foxes drew up a will long ago, leaving everything to their daughter. What good would it do me? I can't transfer it into my name.”
Nathan's chest tightened, and he struggled to breathe.
“Ah… I can't breathe. Sophia, get me one of my pills, quick. I’m having trouble breathing.”
Sophia shot him a furious glare. “You useless piece of trash! Now your body is failing too. This is infuriating! I waited for you all these years for nothing.”
As angry as she was, she still fetched his pills and a glass of water for him to take them.
Joanna had said her father was still useful, and that his four worthless sons could be exploited again.
