“That works!” Susan said. “The day after tomorrow it is. I’ll pick the restaurant. It’s been too long. Zenobia isn’t here, so it’ll just be the two of us.”
“Sounds good. I’ll see you then.”
After hanging up, Natalie lay down to sleep.
The next morning, Natalie got up early and had a seafood breakfast with her grandfather. She needed to prepare for her upcoming fashion show. This time, she had to succeed. She had let her career stagnate for five years.
“Natty,” her grandfather said, looking at her. “You look much better these past few days. You had a nice little trip. Where are you off to today? I’ve found a few new handsome young men. Want to come check them out with your grandpa tonight?”
Natalie choked. “Grandpa, it’s barely breakfast. Can we not talk about this right now?”
“And why not? Or are you actually interested in Matthew?” he asked, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
Natalie knew he must have seen the news yesterday. She hadn’t checked it again, but she trusted Matthew to handle it and to counter whatever smear campaign Jared had started.
“Grandpa, I need to finalize my divorce first. Only then can I even think about getting to know Mr. Monroe.”
Her grandfather nodded in understanding.
