After putting everything back exactly as she found it, Rosalie sat back down in the leather chair.
She resumed her act of anxious pacing, yawning exaggeratedly as she felt along the wall for the switch and flicked off the lights.
Just as she stood by the wall, her hand twitched, subtly slipping something into her pocket.
The tiny motion was perfectly shielded from the overhead camera's view.
Leo had been ordered to keep an eye on her all night. Through the monitor, he watched her turn off the lights, yawn, and crawl onto the sofa to sleep.
Leo stared at the screen, utterly baffled.
Did she seriously think Morgan would let her off the hook if she failed to deliver this "strategy" in the morning?
He glared blankly at the tablet, watching Rosalie fall into a deep sleep in the dark, occasionally shifting and humming in comfort.
She had even pulled a cashmere throw blanket over her stomach.
Compared to her, Leo—who was forced to work an all-nighter in his study—had a miserable existence.
He lasted another twenty minutes, radiating pure resentment.
Finally, unable to keep his eyes open, he dragged himself to his bedroom and passed out.
Just as dawn broke, Rosalie sat up abruptly. Grabbing the pen and paper from last night, she began furiously scribbling lines of text on the desk.
Early that morning, as The Blackwood Group offices buzzed back to life, Leo showed up with dark circles under his eyes. Rosalie, however, looked completely refreshed. She handed over the papers with a bright smile, asking in feigned concern, "Leo, did you not sleep well last night?"
Leo's mouth twitched. He glared at her. "Mind your own business."
Rosalie shrank back and kept her mouth shut.
Leo quickly scanned the papers just as a knock on the door interrupted his thoughts.
He opened it to find Morgan, who had arrived unusually early.
Morgan's eyes instantly darted to the papers in Leo's hand, and he snatched them away.
After reading through the pages, Morgan frowned deeply, glaring at Rosalie, who stood meekly to the side.
"This is your brilliant idea? Dinner and a movie..."
Morgan's scowl deepened.
"Young women love that sort of thing! I know there might be a misunderstanding between you and Miss Ruby, but you need to clear the air first, then officially ask her out. A woman who just went through a divorce and is raising a child alone is emotionally vulnerable right now. That is exactly your opening."
Morgan's brow furrowed so tightly it could have crushed a rock.
He scoffed coldly, tossing the papers aside. Leo scrambled to catch them.
"She won't even talk to me. How am I supposed to clear the air? And do I really need you to teach me how to buy someone dinner?"
Rosalie put on a conflicted expression, then suddenly let her eyes light up as she boldly stepped closer. "Since you're using me as leverage to force her into giving you what you want, why not use me again to force her on a date?"
She offered a sycophantic smile.
