Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 28

On the other end of the line, Beasley pinched the bridge of his nose.

He'd spent the whole morning stuck in meetings and now all he wanted was to give his mind a break. He couldn't be bothered to guess, so he just asked flatly, "Who did you see?"

York, still gripping his phone, kept his eyes fixed on the spot where Willow had disappeared. He let out a low chuckle. "I saw your Bargain Bin Girl, but I couldn't tell if it was her or her new guy buying the car. The two of them just left."

He paused, then added, "By the way, the man with her wasn't the same guy we saw outside Silverton last time. Looks like she's switched up her company."

York waited a while before Beasley finally answered, his tone accusatory. "York, don't you have anything better to do?"

York arched an eyebrow. "Hey, I still don't have my own car. Once I finally buy one, I'll be plenty busy."

"From now on, you don't need to tell me anything about her." Beasley's voice was cold, a note of irritation creeping in.

York had always known Beasley couldn't stand his own wife, but he hadn't realized just how deep the indifference went.

After all, this was his wife cheating on him!

"I'm just looking out for you, man. Didn't want you walking around with a target on your back," York retorted, undeterred.

"If you have nothing else to say, I'm hanging up." Beasley was clearly done with the conversation.

"Wait, hey, are you free tonight?" York quickly interjected.

"Why, what's up?" Beasley asked, barely masking his impatience.

York grinned. "Didn't I just pick up my new car today? Let's meet up for a couple of drinks tonight—my treat."

Beasley didn't refuse. After a pause, he said, "Alright, see you at the usual place."

Once their plans were set and the call ended, York waved over the sales associate who'd helped Willow and the middle-aged man earlier.

The salesperson, noting York's sharp suit and easy confidence, immediately brightened and hurried over. "Is there anything I can help you with, sir?"

York got straight to the point. "That couple you just served—what car did they buy?"

The salesperson understood right away and gestured toward a nearby display car, smiling. "That would be our latest Ultra, with extended range—fantastic battery life…"

He tried launching into a full sales pitch, but York cut him off. "How much for that car?"

The salesperson blinked, then flashed a big smile. "You can drive it off the lot for just thirty-two thousand—it's a fantastic value!"

York snorted inwardly. Thirty-two thousand. Hardly something to brag about.
