Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 205

"How do I look in this?" Charlene held up a dress in front of herself and asked Daniel.

He nodded. "Looks good."

"What about this one?" She picked up another dress and asked again.

Daniel nodded again. "Does it even matter? With your figure, anything would look great on you."

Charlene couldn't help but smile. "Since it's a celebrity charity gala, I should dress more formally. This black one is perfect."

As she spoke, her cheeks flushed slightly. "Um, I need to get changed now."

"Need a hand?" He stood up and approached her with a grin.

Charlene's cheeks burned even hotter. Sure, they had already crossed that line, but changing in front of him still made her self-conscious—not to mention, it would slow her down.

Half an hour later, her face was even redder. "This isn't working… We're really going to be late."

"Almost done!" Daniel replied.

Ten minutes later, she was finally ready, and the two stepped out of the dressing room.

"Looks like we're going to be late." Charlene looked at Daniel helplessly.

"Not necessarily," he said with a smile as he started the car.

The Qranross Speed King was on the move.

Daniel drove fast, but his control was impeccable. Just as they were approaching the charity gala venue, a luxury bull-branded supercar suddenly accelerated and stopped in the middle of the road.

That was the biggest downside of supercars—their low ground clearance. Zidane had no room to maneuver.

"What the hell?" Jennifer let out an enraged shriek.

The sudden jolt slammed her against the seatbelt so hard she felt like her ribs might snap. Worse still, smoke was already billowing from the crumpled hood of the supercar.

Panicked, she fumbled with the seatbelt, unfastened it, and bolted out of the car.

Zidane was just as quick. He immediately jumped out of the vehicle when it crashed.

Gritting his teeth, he watched as his bull-branded supercar began to smoke and catch fire. He had spent a fortune and pulled strings to get his hands on this car, and now it was a complete loss.

Jennifer was still cursing at the top of her lungs, but that only fueled Zidane's anger.
